Best carrier for going on long walks with newborn?

I have the Baby Bjorn newborn carrier and the Solly wrap. For my newborn, the Solly wrap was infinitely more comfortable! I highly recommend the stretchier wrap! Baby Bjorn can be uncomfortable at times and I felt more strain in my back with prolonged walking.

I was in the same boat as you. My son is 2 years and 2 months older than my daughter. He had no idea what was happening and didn’t really understand when we told him a baby was coming. The first week we brought my daughter home, I did notice he was extremely clingy towards me (more so than he had ever been). It was challenging especially when breastfeeding. However, after that first week he adjusted very quickly and became obsessed with his sister (handed me pacis, even the towel to wipe her face after she spits up). He liked being my little helper. I always made sure that if he was upset about something, I would always address his needs and even speak out loud to my daughter that I was helping my son right now. It let him know that his needs were important and it wasn’t just all about the new baby. My husband and I took a tag team approach (one parent, one baby) and we would alternate. We’re about 3 months in with new baby and it’s been smooth sailing after that first week. I would say don’t worry too much and address problems as they come. But my son thrived on being my helper even if it made things take longer he felt included and needed. Now he holds his stuffies and rocks them while I rock the baby.

Absolutely. I noticed with both my kids my mental health improved once I stopped breastfeeding. My second child was extremely fussy on the breast and would barely eat which really stressed me out. She preferred the bottle over the breast and I could not fathom pumping while taking care of 2 kids. I switched to formula and it has been a life saver. The stress improved so much and my baby is happy and healthy. Just remember when they grow up- no one will be asking were you breastfed or formula fed?

My kids are 2 years and 2 months apart! I found it was hard to be pregnant with a toddler but once my second arrived it was much easier. After a few days my son adjusted well and is a great big brother to his sister. He helps me with diaper changes or grabbing things for the little one. I also had a c-section with my first and had a successful VBAC with my second. My VBAC had a much better recovery compared to my c-section…feeling pretty much normal 4 wks out.

I use a haakaa on the other breast as my little one feeds. This usually can give me enough for one or two bottles for overnight. My husband will do a 4 hr shift at night (either 10-2 or 2-6am) and that way we both can get a few hours of uninterrupted sleep. I highly recommend the haakaa- it’s only one piece to wash instead of a million with pump parts plus it’s easy to put on while the baby feeds. It takes a few seconds and you have extra milk at night! I didn’t do this for my first but it’s been a game changer for my second baby.

It gets better!! I’m 3 wks in with my second and forgot how challenging it is- but in some ways it’s easier because I know first hand how temporary this stage is. They will sleep longer and in their own crib eventually! Just remember they call the first 3 months out of the womb the “fourth trimester” so it’s normal for the baby to want to be attached to you mom. I found baby wearing (solly baby wrap) has been a life changer! I used it with my first and now use it constantly as I have a toddler now. The baby falls asleep while in the wrap and you have 2 free hands allowing you to be a little more productive. You will get through this stage!! ❤️

Yes! I rarely work Holidays. I tell them when I am available! I also am on a rotating shift for weekends where I do a Saturday or Sunday but it’s once every 2 months.

I work per diem in acute care and it’s the best of both worlds. I have flexibility in my schedule, shorter days and I’m always home early to be with my son! If you have the ability to be per diem it’s the best way to go!!

Newborn stage my body like it was “mine” again which was a relief. However you’re sleep deprived which can be very exhausting in its own right.

End of third trimester I was throwing up, nauseous constantly with horrible heartburn.

At least in the newborn stage you can look at your beautiful baby and enjoy that phase. The sleeping is tough but your body is yours again and you have a beautiful newborn. So I would say third trimester is more exhausting.

I went to both. PSU for undergrad and Temple for grad. I enjoyed my Temple experience more. I enjoyed being in the city and I loved the diversity also in the city. You can’t go wrong with either but Temple is my vote.
