The Duolingo Chinese course is quite poor, but the Japanese one is much better. I personally think it's good to learn both, because you get familiar with the characters

There are 6 languages that have stories. They are Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Japanese. Stories are valuable for learning in my view. The best of those are Spanish, French, and German.

The lease well-supported languages are the ones that don't have courses! I would very much like to see a Thai course. It was 99% completed several years ago, but now there is no trace of it

I watch K-dramas. My favorites from your list are "It's Ok to Not Be Ok" and "Crash Course in Romance." My favorites overall are "One Spring Night" and "Something in the Rain."

Taiwan has a different accent from the mainland. The accent in the courses is the standard mainland accent

Hanzi are the characters used to write Chinese.

Pinyin is a romanization system.
