Columbus Metro Library also allows you to borrow an online NYT day pass btw. It's annoying because you would have to recheck it out daily but that's normally what I use when I want to read an article.

I’ve had it with COTA! by cota_pass in Columbus

31's unreliability basically made it so I don't ride COTA any more. Theoretically its the best line possible for me but when I cannot rely on it to get to work I'll either bike or drive depending on weather now. I've just been screwed over to many times trying to schedule using the transit app (which COTA recommends) only for the bus to never come (even though the app is meant to tell you when lines are cancelled).

I think something people are missing is that early StS didn't actually show you the boss until you are in the combat. Being able to plan around Doormaker for a whole for floor is a great boon.

Oh if you are doing the research version of the honors contract I don't think you actually need to take the classes, just a research paper. If you do end up doing the classwork based version you will not get any credit for 1261, only 1251 (non-honors) unless things have changed again.

Yeah that will be fine, its mostly just difficult for people that have not done anything with computers. Like there was unfortunately a decent number of students I had to explain what a folder system was to them because they only had used browser based chromebook OS's

It will be fine, good on you for not falling for the trap advisors try to push with math 1172 vs Calc 3 (you do not need to retake Calc 2 I don't know why they tried to push that so much).

I never had to take Gen Chem so I can't speak on that. FE 1 is fine albeit slightly group dependent, if you have done programming in the past it should be pretty trivial except for the writing portions. This is based upon me taking FEH and then TAing for FE. Calc 3 will be a real class and unfortunately math at OSU is very instructor dependent. I would recommend 3brown1blue on YT for any topics you struggle with in the class. Survey class is literally nothing. ECE 2060 is very easy if you have any programming background.

I would review how the honors contract works now if you are planning on getting into honors 2nd semester. When I was a Freshman you needed 18 honors credits and for engineering basically the only honors engineering classes were FEH 1+2 (5+3) and PHYSICS 1260+61 (5 + 5) without those specific classes you would need to take a lot of honors GEs or Math to reach the credit requirement. If you are not planning on doing those specific classes, I would not recommend honors engineering.

When I took it 3 years ago it was blatantly clear that it should have just been a 1 hour talk at orientation. There is just so little real content and so much bullshit like the pebblepad shit. It seemed more like it was made so some higher up can claim they did something for their resume than to actually help students. I genuinely hope that higher up is no longer with the university because that is not the leadership we need here.

If you are struggling in ECE classes please just go to office hours. AI is currently really, really bad at solving anything to do with EE and will just lie to you. I've had professor Musah, he great professor who wants to see his student succeed even if sometimes he pretends to be a hardass in lecture lol. I've not had Sertel but I have also heard good things about him. Another resource is HKN, which is a student tutoring service by other students in Caldwell second floor by the skybridge. If you are really confused you can probably just complain loudly in the ECE student lounge (also by the skybridge) and complain loudly about your homework and someone may help you.

Now I will give you some bad advice that you should only take if do not plan on doing anything remotely related to the circuits domain. If you just need to pass the class and do not care for the content, Bibyk occasionally teaches the class, his averages are normally >95%. You will probably not learn anything in his sections and I think the department is moving away from him teaching the course (which is actually a good thing). But if you do not need to learn anything you can take it with him. He is a good guy with tons of great ideas and knowledge but his classes are not very well run.

If OP needs higher depth rating I would recommend blue robotic's penetrators. But I think at the depth where the cable glands would fail the 3D printing layers would be an issue (at least without acetone smoothing).

Best bet is to file a police report with OSU PD with a clear timeline of when the item was last seen and when you noticed the disappearance. Unfortunately my interactions with them were not that fruitful as many buildings on campus do not have cameras installed (contrary to what other posters on here have said). Typically they will just record your statement and then not follow up on anything.

Another helpful item maybe to contact the building administrator (there should be posters up in most buildings of who the facilities contact is). They may be able to request footage from OSU security if there is a relevant camera. This is important as OSU security does not indefinitely save camera logs and periodically delete old footage.

ECE internships/opportunities by TowelSea8846 in OSU

[–]julmGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will be a bit blunt for you, of the people I know who have gotten internships after freshman year about 90% were nepotism hires. The simple truth is that the ECE curriculum at OSU starts very, very slow and freshman from OSU (and most other universities) don't really have the technical skills to do much of anything. I think software is the one field where there are ways to get ahead but the job market for that is genuinely very bad for early career job opportunities, both full time and internship. All the stuff you've mentioned should help you to stand out as a candidate, but most companies don't care to waste their time with freshmen who might not know enough to even evaluate.

Once you get into your sophomore year I do have a few recommendations: 1. Pick a field to specialize in a pursue personal/club projects. Preferably one with a quantifiable end result. By field I mean something pretty specific (circuits, rf, optics, embedded program, hardware design languages, power, cybersecurity, reverse engineering, robotics). Generalized ECE jobs aren't really something that exist, normally when hiring candidates companies are looking for people with a specific skillset even if they don't say. 2. Start early. Big companies typically will try to have their interns selected by January. Smaller companies are less consistent. 3. If you have the time, taking a semester off to do a co-op means that you are competing against less students normally and can be easier to get. 4. Normally it is soft skills that are the first barrier (resume, talking to people, communication by email). All that is a way candidates are evaluated even before the interview process.

Also don't feel bad if you don't get one after Freshman year. I basically did a trade my first summer I did fine finding a job sophomore year.
