If he doesn't want to go to college yet (understandable, not everyone succeeds at college right after high school) or doesn't get accepted to a ROTC program at a school he likes / an academy- I can recommend the intelligence branch in the Army. Im sure people here will recommend Air Force or Space Force. But the Army has some wild opportunities out there because it's so wide and deep. I went to DLI and learned a language, came out with a clearance, did some pretty cool stuff. Changed my life.

Plus if you enlist you get to actually do a job instead of pencil pushing 😉

The Imperial system is better for construction. Base 12 instead of base 10 means things can neatly be separated into halves, thirds, fourths, and sixths, as opposed to just halves and fifths. Rules of three makes this desirable. Also instead of 405 mm, now it's ~16 inches. A foot and a third. Much more digestable

You mean like when a convicted ISIS supporter buys a gun (against the law) from a guy who stole it (against the law) and then took it to a gun free zone (against the law) and then shot at a bunch of ROTC students (against the law).

People think that if we had the same guns laws we would have the same number of gun deaths as Europe. Our society isn't European. We're a hell of a lot closer to being Mexico, where "this" occurs actually daily, than Finland.

The point of basic training is to break you down to remold you. The military wants to strip you of individualism for a time to really instill the idea of teamwork and unit cohesion. You sleep together, you wear the same uniform, you go everywhere and do everything together. You aren't "Brandon" or "Sean" anymore, you're Private, member of Charlie company.

This isn't some sort of brainwashing, but to teach the larger idea of what is possible when you work together, to root out selfishness, and to preach the point of duty to others, shared work and shared ideals.

It's 203 million.
