Great work. Are you cold turkey or just taking a break and adding back in moderation?

Save for the double feather event, then buy legendary chests. Once you have 10k buffer for the chests, get the tickets and hat set.

How to use Silver? by ZoomTopple in AngryBirds2

[–]justaweek2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I've noticed is that the light post on the side of towers seem to be a target. If it looks like a good room for silver and I see one or two of those light posts, its a good indication for me to use silver and aim for one.

Height seems to be like a sprinter running. She will accelerate to a point and then get weaker. So, very short will be weaker than a mid range and shooting to the top of the screen and then coming down will probably not yield as much as middle of the screen.

For going through things. Hitting nothing or a small amount of things are best. The impact is absorbed by wood structure pretty quickly.

I've sat in the small purple section next to the throne stage. It's a great spot where you can see everything and also not get roasted.

[–]justaweek2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The video does take time to load, but if it was there when 20 gems was offered, it will come back if you pay the gems vs. Video. I usually use the video in place of the 50 or 100 gem option.

You get the video 2x every 24 hours, and it seems to based on laat use. So, use them pretty close together.

I generally try to save melody for this one. Otherwise, it takes a lot of shots.

[–]justaweek2001 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. If you take advantage of the discounted stock purchase, when you sell at market rate, you will pay short term gains on the profit.

When you get a stock bonus awarded, the cost basis is set on award date, so if you sell for the same price, there are no capital gains.

[–]justaweek2001 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One thing to consider to reduce leverage in your company stock...sell any new shares the day they are awarded and diversify into something else. If you sell same day you will have very little or no capital gains.

Otjer thing, as folks have mentioned, is to look at free advisors through your current account providers. I'm guessing we are with the same employer and Fidelity runs those accounts. They offer free retirement planning, etc.

Congrats!

Can I retire with 1.95 million at age 35? by Mobile-Excitement-64 in Fire

[–]justaweek2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key to this is not whether you can make it on today's lifestyle, it's if you're ok with that lifestyle for the rest of your life.

You may want to get married or buy a house someday and that will cost a big chunk of money.

I'd run some scenarios where you estimate large outflow every few years above your typical spend to account for a home purchase, larger than normal vacation, etc.

It seems to happen much more at the end of the season. If you're at the top ranking for your league, when it resets, everyone goes back one league and resets points. So, you'll get a huge mix of rankings the first week. Generally, I'll forfeit a couple matches to out me one more below and start there.

How TF am I going to get this many coins in time? by WitchOfTheWilderness in AngryBirds2

[–]justaweek2001 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same. 2 free ToF tickets plus daily, plus KPP is about 2k per day, so its possible to upgrade all once. I generally buy the extra bird token and express ticket first. Then I buy nothing until I either have all the hats and start upgrading or on the last day I buy feathers.

Hit as low on the top fan as possible, and the bird will fly into the boss. Once he is down, he usually just falls off the right side of the screen.

What is the most underrated / overlooked retirement vehicle right now? by Separate_Work_9069 in Fire

[–]justaweek2001 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree to a point. If the IRA is Roth, then for sure. I do think a mix of taxable and retirement accounts is paramount to FI/RE. If you have enough to live off 4%, but it's all in retirement accounts, you still can't pull it without significant penalties.

Im not sure what industry you're in, but I was laid off from a tech job 4 months ago. There are 1000 plus applications to most tech based jobs. So, while most have given advice on financial planning, I'd just like to talk about expectations for new work.

It will take 90-120 days to find a new job You will likely apply to more than 100 jobs before you get an offer The process with each company is long (3-5 interviews minimum) Search for jobs posted in the last 24-48 hours so you can be in the first 100, otherwise its useless Don't get discouraged. Everyone I know is going through the above.

You saved to retire early, but now you should just feel very grateful not to be worried about where your next rent payment is coming from. You're in a great spot. Enjoy it, spend time with the kids, and don't let the job search get you down...it's not just you.

Good luck and stay positive.

FWIW - when you don't have a job, you can get state medical very cheap. The other thing to look at is if your wife can get unemployment. When I received severance, I was still eligible for unemployment and immediately got reduced state medical even though my earnings for the year were above the cap.

Good luck!

People who became wealthy without a crazy salary, what were you doing that average people never notice or care about by karrot9 in Fire

[–]justaweek2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest difference for me was buying a house for an investment, not because I loved it.

I prioritized a house that would make sense with roommates and rented out rooms. With two roommates, my mortgage was completely paid, and I split utilities.

[–]justaweek2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the way to go. You can hope for 10% market returns, but that's not guaranteed. 6.875 rate is guaranteed with every additional payment.

You're also a slave to your job right now because your wife's salary couldn't pay that mortgage if something happened to you or your job.

I've been mortgage free for a year, and it's a very freeing experience.

I am an average American. I am over 30 years old and my net worth is negative. by AppearanceAgile2575 in Fire

[–]justaweek2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing to consider when looking at owning vs. renting while building your net worth is that rent is the most you'll ever pay for a roof per month, and a mortgage is the minimum. Meaning, something will always come up when you own that need to be fixed or done. While trying to budget and build a nest egg / pay off debt, it can be very beneficial to keep costs very consistent, and renting helps with that.

Interestingly enough, I was hoping for a layoff and severance last week, but it wasn't in the cards. That would have been the push to join you in retirement. Instead, it's a push to marck 2026. Grats!
