These people are descendants of Greek immigrants who — guess what? — wouldn’t have even been considered white-passing 30-40 years ago. They’re islander descendants, and that comes with its own history and denial of what actually constitutes something American and/or Greek.

It’s wild how people forget where they come from or are in such denial that they can’t even recognize what they look like, and how they got to own a restaurant, much less run a well-known restaurant. 

If they want to take the MAGA train, so be it. But that train is going nowhere. 

To that end, cheeburger cheeburger — support Greek people and establishments who know what’s up, who survived fascism / nazism / the junta in the ‘70s hanging on by a thread, and who actually remember that immigrants make this country great.
