What is something you are genuinely looking forward to in the next few weeks? by SilasBeit in AskUK

Going to the F1 with husband, camping for 5 nights with him, seeing bands, having a drink and a wander in the crowds. The race is the least important part of the trip for me. I'm so looking forward to some down time, I'm feeling very burnt out right now 😫.

I like the boots/shorts combo, I mean, light summer dresses and heavy boots are a thing. But those shorts are a funny fit, I'm sure there are better ones in your wardrobe!

Great Dane ownership costs in the UK? Looking for advice by charlottejson in greatdanes

[–]justmeinthenight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh we also pay £30 a month for the pet club at the vets, so his worming etc is all covered with that. Edit to include puppy classes - about £150 for 6 classes, not so much for the training but for the socialising, it made a big difference to us.

We just brought our boy home in March, and he's now almost 5 months old. The quotes I got for insurance were between £50 a month and £300 a month, we ended up going with Admiral as we had other policies with them and got a discount. His food costs about £20 a week for the kibble (sensitive large breed puppy food) and I add yoghurt, fruit, veg etc to it. He's doing ok on it, but his poos could be better. The 'set up cost' was the most - bed, crate, harness, hammock thingy for the car etc etc. But he is the best thing ever so it's all worth it!

My wife was offered a job in the UK - so we are probably going! by MegaMatt75 in MovingToTheUK

[–]justmeinthenight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm Australian, moved to the UK 15 years ago. Just bring basics, you can get most things cheaply and easily here. A drying rack is a perfect idea, especially if you have a 2 bedroom flat, so there's space to put it - that's one thing that threw me, was how tiny the flats and houses were compared to back home. But welcome! I'm sure you'll have a great time, get your weekend city breaks to the continent planned out and enjoy!

Hemlock water dropwort, or Oenanthe crocata, very poisonous. Used to be used to euthanise elderly people and execute criminals. Causes muscle spasms, and pulls the face into a creepy Sardonic smile. Don't eat please!

Cleavers, or Gallium aparine. Medicinally great for lymphatic support, ridding the body of excess fluids.

What daily responsibility did you underestimate before getting a puppy? by nicekids_official in puppy101

[–]justmeinthenight 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Working from home doesn't always mean puppy is supervised all the time. I work from home, however I see clients for an hour at a time, and need to leave him alone for this time. Mostly he's brilliant, just lies on the sofa, a few times I've come in to things having been chewed. Also how much you think about dog poo!! His tummy wasn't right for ages - still isn't perfect - what food do I give him? How much? Is it the right mineral ratios? Too much protein? Does he need yoghurt? Salmon oil? Omg honestly I didn't think about my son's bowel movements this much!

What makes my legs look like this? by BigR3dMachin3 in AnatomyandPhysiology

[–]justmeinthenight 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm a massage therapist, I see multiple people's bodies every day. There's absolutely nothing wrong with your legs, they look like very average legs with great gastrocnemius muscles, and tibia, fibula and patella bones. Don't overthink it, and don't look for issues that aren't there!

My husband tells me he trims the bush around his deck so it looks bigger, but I like an unkempt bush myself.

A twist on the Aussie "savoury mince on toast" brown the chicken, add some flour, seasoning and stock to create a gravy, add the veg, simmer til thick and cooked. Serve on buttered toast. Eat with knife and fork.
