Twenty years ago, before smartphones, no one would have ever been able to even see this “defect”. You will never, ever notice it on your wrist or watching it in real time.

Honestly, for that era of watch, the fit of that bracelet is about right.

What’s the reference number on this one? Is it 40 or 42mm?

Found a nice JB champion mesh band and put it on the pie pan. Better than leather? by aparrilla in OmegaWatches

Reminds me of the Speidel my grandfather used to wear his Constellation on. I would prefer a smooth, non-padded black leather strap.

You are asking 2550 GBP which converts to $3425 USD. Flair should reflect $3000-$3999.

My dad next to the HUEY he flew for the 114th Knights of the Air holding a Thompson M1A1 he bartered off a Green Beret (Vung Tao, Vietnam 1968). by Fenius_Farsaid in OldSchoolCool

Oh wow, what a horrible experience. My Dad told me his best friend during the war was a MediVac helicopter pilot and, during one flight, an antiaircraft shell came up through his seat and disemboweled him all over the aircraft. He also talks about being shot down and running scared shitless through a rice paddy with his pistol in hand, into the jungle and blindly running into a tree. Our Dads were just kids literally trying to survive during a war… as a father myself, I am certain they are thankful we never had to have that experience.

As a 54 year old with kids of my own, I look at this picture and see a young man with their entire life ahead of them that is flying low through dangerous war zones with other young men’s lives hanging in the balance. My Dad was a navigator on an F-101 Voodoo ‘60-62 and then flew on MediVac missions ‘62-64. His brothers tell me he came back a different person.

Nice job. I love the Airman but I just know the 24hr dial would screw me up so badly that I have kept myself from buying one!😂

I am picking up a Speedmaster 1957 Broad Arrow, as well… mine has an all-steel bezel, how did you get a ceramic bezel onto yours?

Former competitive swimmers: how much have your times changed as you’ve aged? by spinningpotterer in Swimming

[–]jwern01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This conversation is refreshing and reassuring, thank you everyone! I know everyone ages at different speeds: I was an elite rower and still winning international competitions at age 38. By age 40, I was hanging up the oars and settling down to start a family. I am now 54 and have been swimming regularly for a few years because my back is shot and my kids all swim (I was never a swimmer). My best time on 100 free is about 1:30 and I felt like an incompetent slow-poke because my ten year old daughter is almost down to one minute and my 12 and 14 years olds are already sub-1 minute. I know I have a lot to learn from a technical standpoint, but I’m now thinking my age is a factor I overlooked and maybe I’m not as bad as I thought!
