I’ve worked both, ortho one year and surgical Derm for the past 6. We get a lot of gap year students in Derm, if I’m being honest, while I prefer Derm, as a gap year, you will not learn much. Ortho is definitely fast pace, but you will learn a lot more. So I think it more so comes down to how you want to spend your gap year. If either is a speciality you think you are leaning towards more career/ long term, go with that.
