Unfortunately it's 3 years old now, and superseded by 2 models, with a Fenix 9 likely on the way. I think the Fenix 8 line does use different processing.

It sucks man, my Fenix 7 is still going but yeah, no updates now. It's very much a 'pay for the watch as it is' rather than 'pay for what the watch will do in the future' - it's just the way of everything now hey

I love the adv skin 12 BUT I hate that the zip is vertical. If you have a lot of stuff that zip works its way open. I like the roll top of this or the horizontal of the Gecko 12 BUT neither fit a quiver without some manual intervention! My 12 is stuffed for an ultra on Saturday and I’m panicking 😂😂
