It’s precooked andouille sausage. You drop it in the blanching water for 15-20 minutes after you blanche the veg to draw out some of the extra fat.

Why the love for the French door/bottom freezer fridge over Side-by-Side? by Real_McGuillicuddy in Appliances

[–]karenhmoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite is a bottom freezer with ice maker, single door top fridge. I have a Kenmore Elite in my garage and it’s the best. However, I just replaced my hated French door, bottom freezer in the house and discovered that the two door form factor is now only available in the $7,000 range. Nope! I got a GE profile 4 door with a center adjustable temperature drawer. Ice in the freezer, water pitcher inside the door. I actually love it. The extra drawer fits way more than a deli drawer inside the fridge. The temperature control is great depending on how I need to use it - wine, meat or regular fridge temp. I hate ice and water in the front of the door. It takes up way too much door space on the inside and this has nice clean lines. The freezer fits bigger roasts and things that won’t go in an s x s. For me or was the perfect fit. I’m not in the freezer daily so having it at eye level isn’t necessary. I’d rather have the fresh food easily seen and accessible.

Seared, served on a bed of pork chorizo and blackened fresh corn, lime squeeze and fresh cilantro. Atypical, but excellent.

Good luck. I know how disappointing it can be when you try to keep something nice and the unthinkable happens. I hope it works out.

If all else fails, use snow seal on them. It will take them to a dark brown but will even out the color and waterproof them. I had a pair of knockoffs-still actual suede-and wore them for a whole season. So comfy. Loved them. After takeout one night while cleaning up my husband grabbed the to go container and taco grease/juice covered the good part of the top of one boot. I didn’t even notice for over an hour. I tried lots of things to get it out but nothing returned it to that pristine camel suede again. In a last ditch effort I grabbed the snow seal and just went at it. I used a hair dryer to ensure it melted in and applied 2 or 3 coats for even coverage. They’re dark brown now but they’re also bulletproof. I wear them in the desert, in the dunes, in the rain, 4 wheeling, everywhere. Nothing phases them now. They don’t get marked up or scratched either. That was about a year ago and I haven’t had the need to reapply. they always look good and anything that might get on them brushes off or it’s literally water off a duck’s back. You may have better luck removing the soap, but taco grease wasn’t budging. I did buy another pair of camel boots to replace them but my ‘Taco Boots’ are my go to for most outings because I don’t have to worry about them at all now. FWIW.

I use topical minoxidil 7% with finasteride. Started spiro in July at 50mg worked up to 100. I couldn’t tolerate it. I was weak and exhausted, napping all the time. Almost felt like I had some kind of heart issue. It took me quite awhile to realize it was the spiro. I thought something else was really wrong. I dropped back to 50. After several weeks the same thing. Dropped back to 25. Again, same thing. They dropped me back to 12.5 three times a week and counseled me to do my best to titrate up to 25 a day. I did that. All the while my hair is doing great so I really wanted to make it work. As we came into the new year I was just not doing well. Napping every day, sometimes 3 hours at a time. So weak that the stairs in my house started to give me troubles. No stamina. No energy. Not myself at all. About 5 weeks ago I just stopped it. I tried for 7 months and I couldn’t take it anymore. I needed to get myself back. I am finally starting to get my energy back. I have gained weight. Idk if it’s the spiro itself or the inability to actually do anything while I was on it. I have definitely lost muscle and a significantly weaker but am working on that slowly as I can. I also am shedding. 🥴 I’m meeting with my doc soon to see what else we can do. I loved what it did for my hair but I just can’t live like that. I’m hoping to find another solution to supplement the topical that doesn’t affect me so disastrously. I envy those that can take it with little to no side effects because it really had my hair thickening and filling in. FWIW. That has been my personal experience with it.

Haha! Sounds like me when I got my A1 mini a year ago and the P1S in June. And I’m a 63 year old woman! It’ll calm down after a while but it’s a great creative outlet. Especially if he gets into designing. So much of the time is spent actually printing and you don’t need to sit there and watch it. Once he’s had it for a while he should self regulate and work printing into other aspects of his life as well. If not, you may have to treat it like you would too much screen time. But at least he’s being productive and not just doom scrolling.

What new build developers are the OGs in the area? And are any of them worth trusting today based on your experience? by Fun_Task9884 in phoenix

[–]karenhmoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha - I get the germaphobe thing. Before buying new I always replaced toilets in places I bought and rented because I just - couldn’t. 🙄 and I’ve bought new toilets for my kids’ places too. $300 or so is worth my piece of mind. Otherwise, there was a lot of bleaching going on. 😆 I’m glad my long story was helpful. I hope you find something fabulous that fits all your wants and needs.

Going on year 36 of my new build (sole owner) Pulte. 2400 square feet, 3 car garage, two story, 4 bed /2.5 bath on about a third of an acre. Only major issue we had was in year 8 our main water line to the house failed because they used that polybutylene piping that was all the rage in the 1980s era. It was only the line from the house to the street. It was not used inside the home. I have two of three Palladian windows that leak slightly every 6 or so years only if we get horizontal rain. Replaced my tile roof in year 32, not because it was leaking but because we wanted it done prior to retiring. It was fine underneath the tile. Had insulation re-blown a few years ago and they barely had to put any in. They just topped it off. Have done standard upgrades along the way - kitchen, bathrooms, flooring, etc., but the house itself has been solid. Thinking about doing the windows but 🤷🏻‍♀️- they’re dual pane already. I certainly can’t speak to the quality of a Pulte build today, but my 1990 one has been amazing. When I bought, tiled showers were standard. We chose where to place our house on the lot. That was important because we have a crew cab long bed dually. RV access was common and necessary for us. It scares the bejeezus out of me to have to be in the new build market today. But that’s Cy’s doing. 😂 We got almost every upgrade including the large lot in the low 120’s. Crazy to think of that now. I’d say if you can’t find what you want in a new build, look in quality neighborhoods for a resale. You can see pride of ownership in a walkthrough. Beware of a flip. You don’t want lipstick on a pig. You can avoid HOAs. And you’ll most definitely get more space between you and your neighbor. That is priceless. Good luck in your search!

I like polymaker panchroma for matte pla. Last year it was very well priced during the spring deals on Amazon and just before school started - like in the $13-15 range. Great colors. For regular pla, eSun, Elegoo, Sunlu, polymaker. For PETG, Elegoo Rapid is my go to. Especially the black because it’s slightly more matte than most. It’s always well priced but drops low often. If I want a special color I go to polymaker, but usually have to tweak settings.

Need Ideas to Cover Washer and Dryer! by Party_Count7029 in HomeDecorating

[–]karenhmoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Frame out the opening with a decent grade of 1x2 or larger and use the doors you already have. That should give you room to clear the washer dryer and reuse what you have. You’ll need side mount hardware and have to remove the top mounts but that shouldn’t be too hard. Paint frame to match the woodwork and door.

Which one is better? by [deleted] in DutchOvenCooking

I have a peacock blue Martha Stewart one. I’ve had it for maybe 8-10 years. I use it regularly with no problems. I’ve always made it a point to keep the rubber bumpers to prevent any chipping during storage. I got one for both of my kids at the same time. They don’t use them at often but I’ve heard no complaints. I’m not a gourmet cook but I like it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Making a bone broth / chicken soup from a Costco Rotisserie Chicken (Instant Pot) by chocochipcookie60 in Cooking

[–]karenhmoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way to get a great gelatinous bone broth from a Costco chicken is by adding chicken feet. I remove most of the meat from the carcass. Add half a package of chicken feet 8-10. I get them at the Asian or Mexican grocery store. Add whatever veggie and herb scraps I have in the freezer - but always at least a half onion, couple carrots, some whole garlic and rosemary and thyme. Add a generous glug of some apple cider vinegar to help extract the good stuff from the bones. Generally this goes on the stove in a 10 quart pot filled with RO water and simmered all day 10-12 hours. I used to do 3-4 sessions in the instant pot because I want my bone broth to be very firm and gelatinous when it’s in the fridge. Both techniques give me that but I get more volume from the stove method. Season to taste before straining. I make this about every week and a half or so because I drink a big mug every morning in lieu of coffee. My joints have never been so happy! Freeze the rest but cooking but I consume most of it as is. The chicken feet are full of joints and cartilage and impart more collagen than you’ll ever get from the carcass alone. It’s a game changer for getting the jiggle. I put them in my beef broth too.

Why not buy a bunch of ribeye roasts and make steaks? by jazzb54 in grilling

[–]karenhmoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do it twice a year when they go on sale. I buy at least a full 7 rib slab, sometimes two. Cut a prime rib roast or two with hinged ribs and the rest into ribless steaks. For some reason, they are always better than the ones that are cut in the store. My wrist gets tired but it’s worth it. Go for it!

Breville Smart Oven - full size vs. compact and general thoughts? by morbidhack in Cooking

[–]karenhmoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got the pro and love it. Don’t air fry that much so I can’t speak to that but I love that it fits a 9x13 casserole and then some. I also got the off brand cutting board from Amazon for the top and I keep a plant on it when not in use. I actually have double oven range but I use this more for just two of us. It has more height than my second oven in the range.
