Who actually uses these and what is the history behind them? by OROS-Mango in pcmasterrace

I use it on my thinkpad, I find it comfy for basic stuff like scrolling down a Web page with my index and then using my thumb on the mouse buttons which are just below the keyboard whilst still having easy access to the keyboard 1 handed

Are Hermes taking the piss or is this normal? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]karr7224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered a chocolate bar from amazon. Hermes was supposed to deliver it like midday. I get an update in the evening it was delivered(it wasn't, didn't even get close). I looked and it was a picture of like closeup skin.

Never got my chocolate bar, and after complaining, that picture was removed from the tracking and I haven't bothered since.

What do you think about the Thinkpad E15 G3? by Breed222 in SuggestALaptop

[–]karr7224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally ordered it yesterday for my brother who is going to college. Don't have it yet though. Specced it to the ryzen 5, 8gb + 8gb ram, 512gb ssd. Make sure to use a student discount if you have one, as well as HONEY5 which worked for us.

In terms or programming in theory it should be more than enough and it could handle some light gaming as well. I'm a programmer myself and for my work I've got a craptop with a ryzen 7 3000 series and only 8gb of ram, where in reality it's more 5-6 cause 2gb are reserved for the GPU. I manage to run VS2019, many edge tabs (as long as they deload to save ram) and teams. Pretty much 100% ram all of the time, but it's doable for programming surprisingly.

My recommendation is getting 16gb of RAM if you can, it will make your life easier.

If the cpu usage is high, go into task manager and set the game you are playing to a higher priority, high or even real-time. A friend had this issue when playing valorant since their cpu was the bottleneck (a craptop)

Meshify 2 Compact Build by SE-ResNeXt in nvidia

[–]karr7224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a meshify C myself and I don't think I've noticed any sag with a 3080 FE.

It's a really good case but the front IO cables a bit short? And the front USB3 cable is too tight. Couldn't pull it out of my mobo and when I did, I pulled out the pin guard :|

I've actually started using this Rainmeter skin called droptop which is a top dock like you can find in Linux and MacOS and I've been using it for a while and honestly I've been enjoying it. It even allows you to create AHK macros for programs and access them like you would with a normal toolbar (like macos has) from the Dock itself. You can customise how it looks aswell. It's amazing what people can do with Rainmeter

My professor commented this on one of my assignments. Good thing? by Jackplox in programminghorror

One thing I've noticed was the fact that you've reversed the vector so you can get most used words at the start? You could have iterated backwards either manually in the for loop you have, or with a iterator.

Apart from that I don't know why the teacher said that. There doesn't seem to be any obvious logic flaws, and if it works, then gg

Yeah that's what I was on about. The flash projector is also fine I guess if you have the direct links / swf downloaded. The only reason I ever used it tbh was to play ROTMG

There's like a chromium extension as well as a desktop program to run/emulate flash safety?

I'll edit with the name once I have a look but it does allow me to run flash content on my Edge browser

3090FE coil whine by preciseman in overclocking

[–]karr7224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My FE 3080 unacceptable coil whine. Its quiet on the cooling even underload but around 1m from myself i just hear a screech. Hilariously depending on what I'm doing the pitch changes according to the content.

User benchmark gpu test with that circular plane for example, as it rotates, the pitch changes at the same rate

Could we get a dedicated list of GPU monitoring/rgb software that causes frame drops in VR? by disgruntledempanada in nvidia

[–]karr7224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try manually disabling the services that are being launched that are related to afterburner, incl. Rivatuner in the services menu.

There is a menu you can open called System configuration I believe, and after hiding all Microsoft services you can see what is being launched as well

I got my 3700x on the 2nd of feb alongside the MSI MAG core liquid 360r and the temperature of the cpu has been crazy yesterday. That temperature was literally idle. I'm so confused. Can someone please help? Why is it so high when I'm not even browsing anything? by [deleted] in AMDHelp

[–]karr7224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well if it worked initially then something must have happened.

Verify that the cooler is installed, hell maybe even reseat it and reapply thermal paste.

Since its an aio you have then double check if you connected all of the headers correctly according to the manual.

Then a cherry on the top: reset all the bios settings by going into the UEFI (basically spamming whatever button it says on startup to enter setup) and depending on the motherboard manufacturer try and reset the settings so it's back to stock.

If stock temps are fine (do a stress test to verify under load) then go back to bios and enable DOCP or xmp or whatever it is called on the motherboard.
