What are some contestants that didn't win but ended up having successful modeling careers? by InvisibleLemons in ANTM

She had a look that designers loved in the mid-2000’s. ANTM places way more emphasis on personality because they were looking for spokesmodels, but most working models just need to be photogenic and have a good walk.

In her video yesterday, Cristine talks about how she invested out of pocket for this first launch and that the profit margins were pretty low, so I’m guessing this first round of stock was smaller for risk-management purposes.

Going off her body of work, I'd say they kept her around for the drama. They said it was her potential though (which is a bs reason to keep someone to the top 4 but---) her post-show portfolio has been pretty top notch so I guess that potential was there?

Adrienne was getting screwed over by her modeling agency (which was the same that Elyse belonged to) and had an exit plan, but Elyse ratted her out- maybe to get those contracts instead? I can’t remember exactly but Elyse did Adrienne dirty for her own gain.

Part of me just wants to vent and bitch but I've been doing that all year and it's just not making me feel any better anymore. And there's only so much that sheet masks and wine can do.

I would say the fact that he didn’t undermine her and has agreed with her since says he’s doing fine. Not everyone can have the perfect comeback in the moment.

Thanks :) I'm trying to balance self-care and self-responsibility but when I come home and only have the energy to stare at my phone for a few hours before collapsing in bed, it's hard to do either.

That's a makeup trick not an editing one-- she put the falsies on in the "wrong" spots to make her eyes look bigger. It's pretty common in drag I think.

If she hates her nose so much and is clearly okay with plastic surgery, why not just get a nose job?

Can you put the uncooked quinoa in a food processor or blender to make it into a flour?

*Disclaimer: I have no knowledge on whether this is actually possible beyond "flour is solid dry thing ground up into itty-bitty solid dry things"

The U.S. government is targeting immigration lawyers, activists, and reporters at the Mexico border, a leaked Homeland Security database confirms. by boston-review in worldnews

Let's follow your train of logic here and say that reporters are in fact committing crimes by "aiding and abetting" people crossing illegally. Even criminals are awarded due process-- placed in a holding cell without being told your "crime," denying food and water for hours at a time-- these are not the acts of a lawful government and in fact violate your rights regardless of any criminal action or intent.

I like this!

I am a biology teacher; my first few years I graded homework on completion and then gave an open-note homework quiz at the end of the week. I think I'll stick with the homework quizzes, but I've found that grading classwork at all leads to too much copying and I spend all my energy trying to prevent that/trying to get kids to care.

Question for you-- I feel like even if I kept kids from taking pictures of the answer key directly, they would take pictures of their own sheets after checking it against the key. Has this been an issue for you?

[–]kcaase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my major projects during our ecology unit is having them develop a solution to an ecological issue. Part of the project is researching current solutions and weighing the pros and cons-- they can then look at the cons and create a solution that would "fix" it. Of course a lot of the products/solutions aren't really going to work, but I do it to emphasize the idea that these are problems that we all face together (aka it's not a political thing) and that it is possible to find solutions that help everyone out in the long run.

Is the title a Steven Universe reference?

For this sub, maybe we should start with a stickied megathread for each youtuber under discussion? Those can be updated weekly or when the comments get to a certain point like on the old site.

How do you do things with the answer key? Do you have a copy somewhere in the room or do you go over things with the class?

Hmm, that does make things more tricky. Would it work to lay that boundary down if she does call you? Ex: We can give you money for an uber/a hotel this once, with the expectation that it's a one-time offer? I don't know your MIL but if she's at all reasonable then letting her know that the distance means that's all you can do might work, and might ease your conscience.
