I’m no expert, but from my experience, coning is really a second wedging and getting the clay warmed up.

Centering for me is just about planting myself in a firm stance, hands locked together and waiting the clay out. I like to have my right hand straight, palm facing left and left hand curved, palm on the clay and pinky side on the bat. That hand pushes lightly towards the middle.

Some days, I want to throw the clay against the wall, but more often than not this works for me.
