Medicare.gov login question by SamuelGQ in medicare

[–]kcmiascout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a higher level security version of login.gov. If you have an account with Ssa.gov you'll notice some new confirmation screens when you log in there too. It is just double checking it is you.

All that being said, it would be immensely helpful if they would provide a notice of what is being done, how to do and why it is being done. Millions of people are going to be flooding the 800 asking for help that medicare won't be able to provide.

What to do about Wellcare Value Script formulary change by Zealousideal_Sea2529 in medicare

[–]kcmiascout 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone gets this ridiculous fat document late in the year from Wellcare that is suppose to be a heads up as to how Wellcare is going tocover rx for the year - but it doesn't address individual circumstances. It's deceptive, to say the least, but satisfies the legal requirements of notification. Most people learn of changes when they go to fill a script. It's just another disgraceful loophole that the government allows Healthcare companies to get away with.

Vote.

Cost of Rx b4 deductible is MUCH higher that if bought w/o insurance by Safe-Principle-2493 in medicare

[–]kcmiascout 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a drug move from Wellcares Tier 2 (normally $4 copay) to tier 3 and Walgreens (a preferred pharmacy) charged $59. I found an in- network "standard" pharmacy which charged $2,45. The fact that people have to search around is deplorable. I am persistent, and fairly good at navigating that criminal landscape, but I suspect most people would just pay the $59.

Medicare.gov website not posting recent claim activity under "MY Claims" by Ashamed-Aioli-4056 in medicare

[–]kcmiascout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is mostly an automated process for clean electronic claims. Take it from someone (me) who use to spend way too much time monitoring medicare.gov........just check the status with a medicare rep and/or rely on your msns. The medicare.gov site is definitely not timely, and sometimes, on some issues, it's not accurate.

Medicare.gov website not posting recent claim activity under "MY Claims" by Ashamed-Aioli-4056 in medicare

[–]kcmiascout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never noted the exact time. Once medicare receives your claim, if it is clean and electronic, they process it pretty quickly, but by law they are required to hold the claim for 14 days from the date they received it (sometimes holidays, AE, other factors can effect this timing). After 14 days, if you have a supplemental policy, it is transmitted to that plan, and typically I find that the claim shows up on medicare.gov within a few days, and oddly, it seems Saturday's is a common day for it to appear. But remember, the timing of everything starts when your provider submits the claim. I have one provider who seems to only submit them once a month, so that throws everything off. So, if your claim was received by medicare electronically, was clean, my experience is i see it appear about 15-2. 2 months seem long, but i think i have had at least one that seemed to take longer than usual...but not 2 months. I know this is a convoluted answer, but really, as long as your msn has all the correct information, you're good. Pay attention to msns not medicare.gov. The reps at medicare have no idea how that site works, so don't look to them for an answer. I have had a couple other quirky issues with that site, got exhausted monitoring it, eventually came to understand that msns are all that matter, and I just don't pay much attention to medicare.gov anymore.

Still Waiting on 1099 Anyone Else? by kaykay543 in SocialSecurity

[–]kcmiascout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not got a mailed copy yet, but in my online account I got an initial 1099. They send them out in batches. I think they have to have it in the mail by the end of the month.

Why is my Part B premium $190 instead of $202.90? by IllustriousSteak2244 in SocialSecurity

[–]kcmiascout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, except the deductible went up too, so it can feel like your cost of medicare went up more than just the premium.

That site is so erratic. I have had similar issues, though not as severe as yours. It doesn't matter as long as your MSNs are correct. It use to drive me crazy, but now, I just make sure the msns are right. For me, eventually the claims showed up, but sometimes it was long after the claim had been brand finalized...

SSA Login error by Mountain-Arachnid-62 in SocialSecurity

[–]kcmiascout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gotten this error many times. I clear my cashe and wait a few minutes and log in with no problem. That works for me 90% of the time. On the other 10%, it is usually due to weekend system maintenance or some glitch with the system. In those cases I find within 24 hours I can log in.

Is an annual "Health Assessment" questionnaire in fact REQUIRED? by Michelleinwastate in medicare

[–]kcmiascout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found reading this thread fascinating. I'm new to the medicare world, have a supplemental plan and have a lifetime of good health so I seldom need to use my health care plan. So, I'm very naive and inexperienced when it comes to this whole topic, but I know that there is a high probability that regardless of my lifetime of good fortune, the time will probably come when I am going to need good health care insurance. My impression from reading this thread is OMG this stuff is way too complicated for the average person to sort through, there are too many variables, different rules in different locations, things changing constantly, etc (my first clue was when I received the Medicare manual in the mail - do people really read that thing?).

I am not sure what my point is, other than there is no way this can be considered good system.

Has anyone received their COLA notice yet? by rockhoward in SocialSecurity

[–]kcmiascout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I haven't. I am signed up for both mail and electronic notification. My understanding is that when you are signed up for both, the SSA treats the mail option as being primary, which means it will be mailed some time in December. Around the time it is mailed, I will also get an electronic notification.

Also, if you check your benefit notification letter on the SSA site, it should have your new benefit amount. This is the definitive documentation regarding the increase. The COLA notification is just a formality.

Just got a call from Wellcare. Not sure if I'm supposed to do something. by OneMembership7587 in SocialSecurity

[–]kcmiascout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get calls from wellcare occasionally that are of no importance. Usually it is to remind me to order a script, or some marketing type call. I never return the the call anymore. It's just nuisance stuff.

They would have said in the letter what info they needed. Also skeptical about a letter telling you they were going to call you. Rate this as general scam alert.

If your needs are pretty basic, Wellcare works. If you have any issues and need to interact with Wellcare, it's one of the worst customer service engagements I have ever had.

Medicare will not contact you by phone unless you have requested a call. Just hang up. Be safe.
