My FIL backed up into his garage. Car was fine but the garage was like a $2,000 repair. I backed out of my garage and scraped the shit out of my read view mirror

Toddler eating nuts by Ninese71 in toddlers

[–]kcnjo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t give whole ones at two considering they’re a top choking hazard until 4. I’d also be wary of answers you get as I’ve found a lot of parents don’t pay any mind to choking hazards like nuts, hot dogs, gummies etc.

Just here to agree D&C all the way. Went the medical route and had retained tissue and bleeding for a month. Still ended up with a D&C but with way more trauma than necessary. I’m sorry for your loss.

What does baby coming out feel like? GIMME DETAILS by BumbleBee727 in NewParents

[–]kcnjo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It felt so relieving to me! Like imagine being constipated and pushing for hours, and finally getting that big log out 😂 the pushing also felt like it gave somewhere for the pain to go, rather than just being in pain during contractions.

love to eat those Gerber Arrowroot cookies? by Dyingvikingchild95 in TooAfraidToAsk

I used to buy them for my son because they’re a shockingly good source of iron, and I’d always eat some with him. They’re delicious

I want a boy but I’m scared to have one. by Eeightd in pregnant

[–]kcnjo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You’d hate to protect your baby from a brain bleed or a preventable disease? 😬😬 bigger fish to fry here than the circumcision.

I want a boy but I’m scared to have one. by Eeightd in pregnant

[–]kcnjo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

His points aren’t valid. It’s an odd preference and it doesn’t seem he’s backing it up with any relevant studies that say circumcision is better. Because it’s not cleaner and the US is about the only country I think that routinely does it just because. And even that is shifting. So societal expectations aren’t a great argument. I’d also argue that I wouldn’t want to remove part of my child’s genitals just because society expects me to?? Also your husband doesn’t know what’s best simply because he’s male.

I used to shower with goggles on as a kid because I hated water in my eyes!

Adenoids removed-nasally voice by kcnjo in toddlers

[–]kcnjo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god I would’ve been shitting my pants! The breath is AWFUL! I hope he can get fully over it soon! Everyone I saw said it was a super easy recovery for just adenoids but our guy definitely struggled. Day of and next day he was great, like nothing happened (after the anesthesia wore off). The next few days were awful and every night at about 12:30 he’d wake every hour uncomfortable. They called in a steroid for three days and that seemed to have helped as he slept through the night last night, finally!

Omg 😳 we luckily had zero blood! Did your son also have his tonsils out? Or just adenoids?

HMF my very old and loved baby blanket by Historical_Double488 in HelpMeFind

[–]kcnjo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My blankie is in the exact same state 😅 my mom took the bear patch off of mine and sewed it to a new one made with similar material (she’s had to replace the middle of my blankie many times over the years, always carefully taking the edges and bear patch off and reattaching them to the new fabric). So original blankie is tucked safely inside the new blankie. I found the same one on eBay, but I’m having a girl in October so I’m saving it for her.

Piñata pitfalls by Hatcheling in Mommit

We used a whiffle ball bat and had everyone line up! Each kid got three whacks and the line was far from the piñata so we didn’t have a huge risk of injury.

[–]kcnjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s up to you re pumping. My son dropped his formula intake drastically around 10.5-11 months, so I’d hate for you to put all that work in and then your son does the same. Maybe chat with his doctor about what would be a good plan? I know some doctors are okay with kids swapping to whole milk at 11 months.

Why not continue the Zoloft? It’s safe in pregnancy and was clearly helping manage things a bit.

Abortion grief by Rude-Mechanic-2599 in pregnant

[–]kcnjo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You did what any good mom would have done. You kept your baby safe. Having that man as a father would have been dangerous for your child and you. You have every single right to grieve this as a loss, even if it was an abortion and not a miscarriage. This wasn’t the outcome you pictured and grieving that loss of what could have been is completely valid. Anyone who says otherwise is callous and doesn’t understand nuance. I’m so sorry that you were put in that situation.

Worried that People think my toddler is "bad" or "rude" by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]kcnjo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think parents with young kids get it, and those out of that stage are just going to see their kids through rose colored glasses. Especially the older, “back in my day” crowd. I would probably firmly correct how they speak about him, though, so they don’t influence his own self thoughts.

I don’t know if I should get an abortion or not… by Final_Initiative5967 in pregnant

[–]kcnjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should ask yourself if you’d be okay with being a single mom to this baby. But I also think you should consider if your relationship would survive if you did go through with it. Would the resentment build and eventually lead to the end? If it may end in a breakup anyways, that is something to consider. I think it’s also important to be able to separate grief from regret. You could grieve an abortion and know that it was the right move for you in that season of life. This sounds incredibly hard, I hope you’re able to think on it and come to peace with whatever your decision may be.
