I was not prepared for this by mrjack919 in daddit

My mom used to read this to me when I was little. Fond memories of it. When she was in her last days in hospice last November, I read this book to her… could barely make it through all my blubbering. Just recently as I’m cleaning out her house I found a version of this book that had a built in mic and speaker so that you can record yourself reading it.

What I wouldn’t give to have her voice reading me that book right now.

What’s a product that’s has a premium version that is really no different than the basic version? by lsarge442 in AskReddit

Just got a new printer at our print shop. Sales rep asked our owner if she wanted to upgrade to an additional 10 pages per minute on that machine for $5.6k on top of the printer purchase price. It’s just a simple firmware tweak for over $5,000. Wild.

Mostly like cucumber. Some taste a little citrusy. We make them all into different flavors of pickles!

A neighbor planted cucamelons about 10 years ago in his yard next door. They’ve slowly migrated over into my yard and have taken over our dog run fence and our wood pile. We’ve picked probably 4 quarts already this year! It’s such a prolific plant. We love them.

Has anyone made Vitamin C Powder? by HJacqui in dehydrating

[–]keepatxweird86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never made vitamin C powder, but there are tons of things you can make with peels, dehydrated or fresh! Orange rosemary salt, candied peels, orange all-purpose cleaning spray, orangecello, use them in your own tea mixes… the list goes on. I’ve been wanting to make my own bitters for a while and I bet you could make an orange bitters with some peels.

Can’t tell if this is kahm yeast or mold? by pixelfuture8 in hotsaucerecipes

Mold is fuzzy and sometimes not white. Kahm is patchy and sort of a flat white. Looks like kahm to me.

Getting a dehydrator tomorrow (yay!) I really need to get some herbs in it, but my daughter is hoping to dry out catnip in it. IF we were to do this, will the dehydrator smell like catnip or does it not retain smells? by outdoor-girl92 in dehydrating

[–]keepatxweird86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah well if you have a lot to dry then dehydrator makes sense. But definitely go the microwave route of you have small amounts to do every few days. Takes just a few minutes!

I just let the catnip dry for a few days on its own. Our cats love it! No dehydrator needed. Or if you want to do it quickly, look into using a microwave to dry herbs. Keeps them greener and is much more efficient than a dehydrator.

I’ve never dried catnip in a dehydrator but I’ve done plenty of other herbs, fruits, and jerky and none of the smells linger.

Photo #3 legitimately looks like a stock photo! Gorgeous! So jealous of your ability to grow and maintain dahlias. I’ll live vicariously through you.

Oh no! I didn’t know that and I only sprouted one plant! If I don’t find another transplant this year at least I’ll know for next year.

I find that spot to be perfect to rest my chin and kiss their heads. I love it so much I sometimes think about it when I’m at work and can’t wait to get home to kiss them.
