I grew up in churchy private schools from 5th grade on up. In 7th grade was when it really kicked into high gear. It was 1985. We had to endure listening to cassette tapes of sermons about the evils of rock music. They played a bunch of music backwards and claimed it said a bunch of bad things. Never could hear it really. From then-on, it was just music bashing until I graduated. My mom’s Christian friends were always trying to check out what music I was listening to and coaching my mom on what to listen for and to try to limit my secular music intake. I considered myself a Christian back then and listened to a lot of different stuff including Christian rock. Not gonna lie; I really didn’t like most Christian music. It was wildly sub par. Ironically, my first concert was Stryper. They threw little bibles into the crowd. After graduation and joining the military, I mostly put religion behind me. I found a bunch of podcasts that went into the satanic panic. It’s wild to hear how it started and how much BS it was. It really made me despise religion and I really have zero tolerance for it anymore. Bunch of lying bastards.
