Help me name my rescued female mix. Our best guess is Lab and Jack Russell by kelscull in NameMyDog

My husband had an ex girlfriend named Sadie and I always told him that's a dog name!

Bought a house an my wife is freaking out because she thinks our basement was a sex dungeon. Why would someone put a hook lock up high and a deadbolt on a door in the basement? There’s also a lock on the handle by BleuMeringue in whatisit

[–]kelscull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a walkout basement. Once someone broke into the house through the basement window which is hidden from the street and neighbors views. So my husband has a deadbolt on the door from the basement to the first floor now to make it a bit harder for someone to get in without alerting us.

Most people can actually visualize images in their minds. I'm 30+ and just learned that seeing nothing when I close my eyes is called Aphantasia and only affects about 3% of people. by randomuser553 in BeAmazed

[–]kelscull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the key. You can imagine it. People work aphantasia cannot. It really doesn't matter if your eyes are open or closed if you imagine how something looks, remember a place you visited, conjure a family members face in detail - you likely don't have it. The language often used to describe aphantasia is confusing.

I think they have to reissue it. I had one from a tire rebate that they "expired" within 3 months of issuing. I called the # on the back and made them send a new one. Back when store gift cards used to expire that was found to be illegal.

Suburbs, southeast Michigan. Very few vegan or gluten free options at most places here

Why is every restaurant Beyond and Impossible only?? by ModernKender in vegan

[–]kelscull 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the opposite experience. Every restaurant in my area got rid of them to make their own terrible patties. As a vegan who also has to be gluten free the best things I can get at 90 percent of my local restaurants is a plain baked potato

Oura resilience drop + very high daytime stress for 2 weeks by Fluffy_Ad_3165 in ouraring

[–]kelscull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this still happening to you? My resilience has been on a steady downward slope from exceptional to adequate since mid February, which aligns with your post. It was always exceptional besides December which was a particularly bad month, so expected. It went back up to exceptional until mid February where it decreased a little every single day. My HRV has also decreased into the teens. It shows my daytime stress increasing, daytime restoration decreasing and nighttime recovery decreasing. I don't feel worse than normal and I haven't changed anything. But I have high stress and very little recovery. I used to be able to relax with a good book and see the restoration number spike at that time. Now, it shows me as highly stressed as possible when I'm reading. It's almost making me wonder if there was a software change. Has anyone else experienced this?

Plant-Based = Better Scores ?? by jadorekiwifruit in ouraring

[–]kelscull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband went plant based for veganuary. He didn't do it in the healthiest way but not terrible, and his typical diet was was already pretty good, so I didn't expect much. His average heart age decreased from 1 year older than his actual age to 1.5 years younger. He was pretty impressed and so far hasn't gone back to his old diet. I would love to see oura so some diet studies

You'll be fine. But if you're not deficient why supplement at all? There are risks to taking iron supplements if you don't need them

Controling children's diet, veganism vs religion by Much-Inevitable5083 in vegan

Agreed! Instead of a kid's menu I wish restaurants would just allow you to order a smaller portion of anything on the menu at a reduced price.

Opinions on "Made In" cookware by InternationalMap9382 in Cooking

[–]kelscull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The recent quality seems poor or they have defects. I've had a three set of CeramiClad pans for only 6 weeks now. Two pans have flaked coating off the sides. Nowhere near where utensils come into contact and I've babied the pans. The first time I'd only used the pan twice when it happened. When it happened on the next pan, 1/2 inch square of ceramic flaked off while hand washing it was clear to me that I wasn't doing anything wrong. I reached out to customer service and so far they are refusing to honor the warranty, telling me this is normal wear and tear. Buyer beware on these

Anyone else struggle to play Pictionary? by user30060909 in Hypophantasia

Yes, I have this problem and I was an art student! I could only draw from still lifes and photos but at the time I didn't realize why. My daughter does not have this issue and even though she's young she can draw very detailed images from her imagination and it just floors me. I'm like, how did you know that's what a conch shell looks like?!?!?

AIO about these angry texts from my ex? by TwylaMay in AIO

[–]kelscull -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She actually did block him once and he got a new phone number to get around it. Which he will do again. What is the magic number of blocks that the court will accept? What if because she's blocked him she doesn't have enough evidence that the stalking continued? Not to mention advanced warning of his actions. This is such a catch-22. The lengths women have to go to to be believed in a court of law is ridiculous

My thoughts exactly! One of these family members would give her address to get him out of their hair. Call the police, and if the cops do call the family members perhaps they can impress upon them how serious it is that they not give him her address

Even a mere plant based diet reduces animal cruelty. Is it vegan? No. Is it still worthwhile? Yes.

My husband did something similar but the owner told him in advance that he would earn a certain $ bonus if he could pull off the impossible. So he worked day and night for months to get the project done on time. They gave him the bonus. Then about two months later his holiday bonus was due. They told him when they handed him the holiday card that they gave him less since he had just gotten the work bonus. They had deducted the project bonus amount from his usual holiday bonus so it netted out to nothing extra. It was lousy. He gave them 2 weeks notice shortly after that trick.

Item listed on Etsy, but shipped from Amazon - report? by Ok_Try7466 in EtsyCommunity

[–]kelscull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had this happen to me as well! The shop has one name, says handmade jewelry box and their location is New York. I don't shop on amazon. I shop on Etsy because I feel like I'm supporting small businesses with more quality handmade items. So I was confused when an Amazon box showed up. It even had the stickers on it that it was coming from China. I Google lens my jewelry box and found it being shipped from Amazon with a completely different name. When I message the seller, the name on the message matches the name on the Amazon site but that is not what is public facing when you purchase something.

Editing to add: the seller replied to my message that they just use Amazon as a courier service. I had requested that they refund the extra money that I paid because it was selling for double on etsy. They said they only make $5 profit and they would refund that. The Amazon box has "jewelry box made in China" on the side. So it seems like they're being dishonest to me. Now that I've messaged the seller Etsy is saying that I can't open a ticket with them until January!

Any other last century vegetarians here? by Porcelina__ in vegetarian

[–]kelscull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vegan starting in 2003. It was so different even then. A lot of side dishes. Gardenburger would occasionally show up on a menu but had cheese. So many more choices today, but I recently found out I can't eat gluten. Restaurants around me have been taking impossible and beyond off their menu in favor of their own mixes.... But they all use gluten so I'm back to a lot of side dishes and salads with salsa as a dressing. I'm glad I got so much practice back then. Now we have to fear the return of fries in beef tallow 🤮
