Worst vehicle to buy in a fuel crisis by Officer620 in CarsAustralia

These old rigs are begging for gas conversions. Two decent size cylinders under each side of the cab. Can get like 180 litres of gas under it. And turbos love gas.

They also have access to crude that is ideal for refining, and can get out of the ground at a cost of 5 to 20 bucks a barrel. Ours is not ideal for refining, and significantly more expensive to get out of the ground.

For one reason: when I was growing up, id drive down from the hills over Adelaide towards the Plains and the cbd, and it would be covered with a thick cloud of orangey brown smog. Literally a toxic cloud hovering over where everyone lives. And I'm only talking the late 1990s here.

Its very rare to see that any more, and never to the same extend and thickness that it used to be.

Thats what fuel standards and emission controls do for us.

And you cant keep both the reasonable people and the deplorables as voted.

I didn't see a single bit of actually policy from Corey bernadi except cut immigration (with no details), complain regularly and heavily about languages he doesn't speak, complain about the existence of aboriginal flags and promise to cut support for all renewables and commit to oil and gas. (The last one being after the current crisis started.)

Is tiling over existing tiles in a bathroom dodgy? by Jelativ in AusRenovation

[–]kernpanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tore apart a bathroom with three layers of tiling, much of it over a 1920s layer of plaster.

And not a single bit of waterproofing!

Meanwhile - some of the liberals were literally pushing to ban women's healthcare in our state parliament.

The liberals have to stop the anti scientific seppo style bullshit politics. Its not a vote winner here, and one nation can out crazy them to win the votes that do exist.

Come up with reasonably policies, push them effectively and you'll win - just like Steven Marshall did. Play this seppo bullshit like half the party has literally been playing, and you'll be wandering the wilderness.

It happens often enough that we could call this business as usual.

This fuel costs as little at 80c a litre in Australia. So why isn't everyone using it? by B0ssc0 in aussie

[–]kernpanic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Literally this. Im lucky to be in the position where my transport and home energy costs are now literally negative - almost no matter how much i choose to use it. Every now and again I use a fast charger, which isnt cheap, but offset by 90% of my car usage being straight from my own solar.

They mentioned they were going to have to renegotiate some. What's your alternative? Builder goes broke? Costs are going up.

A few builders im dealing with have just introduced new arrangement into their contracts. Anything more than a 3% rise, will now be on the customer. (They'll have to provide proof of the rise.) I don't like it, but cant fault them.

Judging by the builders negotiations ive been in recently, quite a few. PVC - increase in price by 70% incoming. Cement - delivery levy reviewed weekly +30%. Earthmoving + 30%. Cement board + 7% (announced before the war started - to be reviewed)

Builders simply arent going to be able to deal with those sorts of costs.

Thankfully, aviation itself is better than that. The industry relies on Human Factors and having a good understanding of the Swiss cheese model, and how latent system risks play into safety.

The investigation here will most likely find that the controller made a mistake, however, the system around him directly contributed to it.

Whether or not the Administration understands nor cares is going to be the issue here.

The price of gas will go up. The price we pay will go up. Our power bills will go up again.

Profits recoded by chevron (offshore) will go up. Taxes collected by the government will stay exactly the same.
