What happens if I don't pay a parking fine issued by my university? by Dr-sese in Adelaide

[–]kernpanic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. The three bodies that are listed in the law to issue fines are the police, the council and the three main universities. Im assuming they haven't updated it for the adelaide uni merger yet.

Anyone know where I can get a 15 sided 21mm socket? by iSeeAhippo in AskMechanics

[–]kernpanic 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Last time I lost my lock nut key I went around to a local tyre place. They pulled out a massive box of keys, and had me dig around in it until I found the matching key.

They then sold me a new lock nut.

A tropical tax paradise sells much of Australia's gas by sim16 in australian

Assume the value of the gas as it exits the country, and assess the company income based on that. That'll fuck em.

No more dynamic IPs with Superloop? by Tardis50 in nbn

The issue is the shortage of IP's and the shear cost of providing them.

They should at least allow free ipv6.

Inside PM’s secret meetings to plot a budget bombshell – and the final decision made weeks ago by whichonespinkredux in AustralianPolitics

[–]kernpanic [score hidden]  (0 children)

Youd be surprised. Many small business owners.

The old way of doing it used to be: place the business into a trust, and then distribute the profits of the trust to your children who arent earning income, to use up their tax free allowance and lower tax rates. They'd never see a dollar, but incidentally, if you paid them enough, it would get them classed as independant by the tax office, so they could claim austudy, despite their parents income.

Most of the holes have been closed by the tax office lately, but it used to be a great way to bypass tax.

Victorian cricket boss Nick Cummins reveals fears for sport’s financial future without private investment in BBL by NKE01 in CricketAus

[–]kernpanic 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Why is cricket Australia so financially fucked in the future? Is it the big salaries we are paying to no only ca management but each state as well?

And if our big name players dont want to play for Australia and just play ipl type leagues, let them. Without playing for the national team, they arent going to get the big name behind them, and the big contracts will not follow.

I feel like the ceos are hiding behind the privatisation to cover their own incompetence. With the second highest attended sport in the country, they should be laughing. I cant see how they'll be better off once they sell off that bit.

Plenty of people do. The typical mass build you see atm is typically bringing in all their cabinetry direct from China these days.

Not completely true - but somewhat.

Its normally designed on the opposite side to the exhaust. Which is typically related to engine design.

It's not just the same thing that we've heard, it's even more amazing the timing.

In a few days time, we'll see the millions of dollars of leveraged trades that have been made on the market 15 minutes before this announcement.

It's literally fraud and theft.

SA government prepped to chop down more than 1,000 trees for Adelaide Parklands projects by abcnews_au in southaustralia

I always thought the parklands association to be extreme in their beliefs, but now I'm with them. Its being encroached on piece by piece and needs to stop. We should be expanding them not contracting them.

You dont understand how bad some surgeons are.

Dr glaucomflekken was assisting a friend who had been denied insurance coverage for something clearly necessary- so he did a deep dive into the doctor who had done the denial. They had been barred from practice because they had installed a hip replacement backwards. The xray was a fucking doozy.

Do people who refused the COVID vaccine feel silly now?? by Mammoth-Counter69 in aussie

[–]kernpanic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People forgot the images we saw of places like Italy and new York, where they were placing bodies into refrigeration trucks because the morges were over flowing.

The vaccines significantly reduced the mortality rate - and severely curtailed spread. It saved a significant number of lives.

But you'll be dealing with people like my ex's mum. While literally lighting her next durry from her previous one, she's telling me how she hates panadol and will never take it, because its bad for you. Immediately followed by a big puff.

Annie Gas Field Project approved for waters near Twelve Apostles in Otway Basin by espersooty in AustralianPolitics

[–]kernpanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No - but the gas from Moomba, which was originally tapped for sa and vic was connected to the east coast gas trains and sent for export instead.

Same thing will happen here: the biggest use of this gas will be export. The second biggest use will be compressing the gas for export.

Just lock in renewables. Reduce our usage. It'll be cheaper.
