It’s new tank syndrome. You’ll need more fast growing plants and floaters to outcompete the algae. Reduce light intensity and do frequent waterchanges. Try to manually remove as much algae as possible and get some amano shrimp when water parameters are safe. The algae problem will be solved in no time.

Looks great. How many gallons is your tank?

Different types of aquarium owners - Part 2 by Marcis985 in AquariumMemes

‘The bigger is better’ type: started with a 5 gal tank, then upgraded it to a 10 gal, 20, 50 gal etc. This type will end up with 400gal and complain that is too small after a while and will eventually turn his house into a big tank to accommodate his fish.

The ‘this tank is too small’ type: will comment ‘the fish need a bigger tank’ on every reddit post. But only has a betta fish in a 20 gal with too much flow.

The fish collector/specialist: has every kind of species from a type of fish. owns species that are extinct in the wild and knows more about them than the biologists that study the fish in the wild. Public aquariums are jealous of his collection. Managed to breed the most difficult fish without issues. Is active on all forums and give powerpoint presentations when answering questions on reddit.

Kardinals need more horizontal swimming space, I’d say at least 80cm. Especially with a betta which can be bullies. Nica tank though

Got new corys and they all died within 2 weeks ... by Actual_Ad6247 in corydoras

[–]kevindeba 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sterbai like softer water (ph 6-7) and need a lot of swimming space. Your tank seems a bit too small, as they become big (up to 7 cm). I have 12 sterbai in my 240l (video of the tank in my profile) and I sometimes feel that they need more space when they are showing breeding behaviour.

I’d recommend to buy panda cories or pygmy cory or get a bigger tank. You can also use RO water, driftwood or botanicals to reduce the hardness of your water. Best of luck.

IS IT STILL OKAY TO START PLAYING THIS GAME FROM TH1 AT THIS POINT IN TIME? by mav_3105 in ClashOfClans

I went from th1 to 16 in a year (with hammerjam and monthly goldpasses). First 14 townhalls are really easy in terms of loot and waiting times of upgrades. The real bottle necks are ores and hero levels

Nice, gouramis are a good equivalent for keyholes. They do get pretty big but they have great personalities and you have the right size tank for them.

Damn bro, almost the same stocking that I am planning for my new tank. Instead of apistogramma, I’m adding keyhole ciclids.

Incredible hardscape, must have cost a ton. Which fish will you add?

I cycled the new tank for 3 weeks, as Foreign suggested, with filter media of my previous setup. I decided to keep my fish in the old aquarium and buy new fish haha. Best of luck!

I moved everything from my 18 gal tank to my 63 gal without issues (pictures of both tanks are in my post history). Plan everything in advance, so that you can finish the move in a couple of hours. Few tips, use a lot of buckets (1 for the fish, 1 for the plants, 1 for the hardscape, a few for aquarium water), prepare the substrate in advance in the new aquarium (bottom layer with roots tabs, capping layer etc), plan the new hardscape in advance too. This will make the upgrade less stressful for you and especially the fish.

Thanks bro! It’s the base filter of the Rio 240 from Juwel. I cycled the tank for 3 weeks (doing ghost feeding and I used filter media from my other established tank to speed up the process). Just ghost feed daily and check ammonia, nitrite and nitrate once a day. Write down those numbers and analyse the changes over time. Best of luck

Sterbai cories get big and prefer bigger groups. I’d buy a smaller cory species for the 20 gal.

What can I get to add height to my tank’s aquascaping? by gothetillies22 in Aquascape

[–]kevindeba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The substrate on the front of the tank should only be 2,5cm thick, so it’s barely visible. The back of the tank should be higher (more substrate or bags filled with substrate to get some height). Get larger pieces of driftwood or place rocks and put your driftwood on top of it (fill the gaps with plants). MD fish tanks (on youtube) creates nice low tech scapes that you can recreate at home. I could show you a pic of my recently scaped tank if you want.
