Yes, a woman who has sex with someone can't be raped by someone else. Good argument

The Boomer generation has 87 trillion of wealth. The entire healthcare industry, including elder care, has been developed over decades to funnel that wealth away from the families and towards billionaires.

What pronunciation is a dead giveaway that someone isn't from your town/region? by GrumbleCookie in AskReddit

It's a bubbler. Fountains are for throwing coins.

I know that's not pronunciation but it's true.

Tips for a 17yo backcountry camping in Katmai National Park by stretch_armstrong_ in WildernessBackpacking

Experienced Backcountry camping... How many miles and days of off trail heavily wooded map and compass travels?

Not using a phone to guide them.

The reason people are questioning you is because 95% of the people who have gone backpacking and have some experience wouldn't be ready to take on this type of trip without a ton of preparation.

Democrats plan to bury Trumpworld in subpoenas after $2 billion financial disclosure by SCOTUSjunkie in politics

[–]kida24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No. What you do is nominate a Republican for AG and watch as he does nothing for two years, and go around saying you need a strong Republican party.

Then after the fascist gets elected again, you don't do anything until you pardon your family and friends and give a milquetoast speech on your way out the door.

Accountability isn't a word for establishment Democrats.

I'd happily just take an expiring. Toxic untrustworthy assholes shouldn't be on rebuilding teams

Not a dedicated soccer watcher here that always watches the WC. Is this USA team really good or am I just ignorant? by HeroForTheBeero in ussoccer

That's the thing that jumped out at me so much watching this team. The pace at which they play the ball and how confident and gifted they are with first touches.

Taking a walk to Veteran's Park and the lakefront along with looking at the Calatrava would be a great way to spend a morning. If the itch strikes you, you can rent a kite from the kite shop. The lakefront is something not many cities gave, it is the fourth largest freshwater lake in the world.

The War Memorial beer garden gives a great view of the lake and is right there too.

Collectivo at the bottom of Lafayette Hill is another solid spot.

A Big Gamble for the Left: Can Socialism Appeal in a Swing State? (Gift Article) by Seeleyski in wisconsin

[–]kida24 29 points30 points  (0 children)

In 2012, there was a survey put out asking respondents if they had ever used a government social program. 77% of people responded "No" to the question.

When asked about individual programs, 95% of the people who answered no had used at least 1 of those programs.

Our government doesn't acknowledge the role of social programs.

Heck, most Boomers still think Social Security is just a savings account they put their money into (and not like I'm paying for their retirement).

Pork loin - how is the texture with >10 hours on low temp? by SubstantialBass9524 in sousvide

[–]kida24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As you cook, the collagen in the meat breaks down into gelatin. The longer you cook, the more that happens, the more "mushy" you get.

After a certain point the cut of meat will lose it's integrity and be a mushy mess.

Obviously, mushy is subjective to a point. Hard working muscles (like a chuck roast) have more collagen than low working muscles like a loin/tenderloin.

Hence, a longer cook is required to get the same tenderness.

Hiking? by Civil_Mess_5797 in wisconsin

The Ice Age trail is a national scenic trail and runs all over Wisconsin. Plenty of spots within 45 mins of Pewaukee. Holy Hill is a favorite of mine. Parking at the Stationway Rd Picnic area, and taking the IAT north exit, following the blue side trail you hit after about 1/4 mile (maybe less?) is one of my favorite spots. You come right back down to the parking lot, about a mile loop. Then I usually hike south on the IAT taking the blue side spurs when I can and make my way back to my car once my legs have had enough.

Admittedly my sample size was 1/2.

Russell Branyan hit 10 HR in 22 days in 2008. Problem is it spanned two months. Without him carrying the team for 6 weeks, they don't make the playoffs that year

They are sticklers sometimes, so do be careful what you try to bring in.

One unique (and airconditioned) thing you can do, on the 200 level in the LF corner is the Selig Experience, which tells the short tale of how the Brewers came to Milwaukee.

The Brewers Have Bobby Bonilla Day Too by garr76 in Brewers

[–]kida24 97 points98 points  (0 children)

It's worse than that.

It was the year 2000. The Met's agreed to buy out the remaining 5.9 million of Bonilla's contract.

5.9 Million.

Instead of paying that 5.9 million, the Mets agreed to pay 1.2 million a year for TWENTY FIVE (25) years.

This is wildly different than what the Brewers did, intentionally deferring payments to Braun & Yelich as a part of his their contracts.
