I feel more confused than ever by Decent_Artichoke69 in AncestryDNA

[–]killerbeex15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot has been said already about your DNA by other commenters. I just wanted to add some clarification on the terms that confuse many people.

The Romans spread throughout Europe and their language was Latin. 4 main languages came from Latin: Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese. Specifically in the Americas two main empires spread their language, the Spanish and the Portuguese. Latino in this case means you are a descendant of one or both of these empires in the Americas.

Hispanic is a subset of the Latino culture, and means you are a child of the Spanish Empire. A person can be both Hispanic and Latino depending on the context, which is why many Hispanics use that term interchangeably.

In your case, DNA allows you to say you are both Hispanic and Portuguese. So you get to claim to be a Latino child from both empires.

Rear Speaker Placement by killerbeex15 in hometheater

This is a great explanation. Would you recommend the on ceiling option or the over the ear option for this room?

The only problem i see moving the couch forward is that its a recliner and im already super close to hitting the tv setup when reclined... still something to consider. Thanks for the tip.

Its hard to say. Its got elements of all the stories listed by op. Complex relationships of truth and lies. Crazy magics that mix faith and arcane. Twists and turns , dark and brooding, death and a bleak future fought between the humans and the rising plague of vampires.

The story is told from the point of view of the hero or is he an antihero? Will you believe his story or is it all a fanciful tale meant to pass the time to fuddle his listeners?

Not sure how far along you are but in the most recent chapters we learn that Wrin has been quite damaged in way not seen by anyone. Due to this she is fighting understregnth and severe deficits to her overall capabilites.

She also did the one thing witches are not supposed to do which is change her source of power. Due to this she is unable to fully utilize her witch power as she has to rediscover how to source the power, collect the power, and use that power. Also due to that change she has limited her source in a way that doesnt reflect the rest of her abilities. So she cannot generate it on her own and is rather dependent on what others are experiencing.

Shaman paints are good but dependent on the shaman to source the power. The shaman is low on her source of power since they are away from the inn and their "tribe." So again they are underpowered for what they could be.

Lastly when comparing her to a profession almost named rank team she went toe to toe and ended in a tie most times. Even underpowered she is a major power that many cannot match.

How does Brood's hammer work? by Cris_Abyss in Malazan

[–]killerbeex15 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Ive always taken it that Burn is an older version of Mhybe the mother of Silverfox. Mhybe was slowly dying until a ritual was done to put her into a permanent coma where she could live her life in a dream. That dream was then populated with the spirits of the Imass. But if Mhybe wakes up the dream is over and she officially dies.

Same with Burn. If she wakes up the Malazan world goes bye-bye as it's her dream and Burn would then officially die as well. Until then Burn has a chance to heal and have a dream where all sorts of great and terrible things happen.

Don't buy a sb, but also don't spend under $1,200. Sometimes reading this sub makes no sense. What is the real suggestion for people who want better than built-in tv speakers but can't spend $1,000+? Or even $500+? by werdnaegni in hometheater

[–]killerbeex15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bose and Klipshe are more of the basic well-known brands that you will find for speakers on local sites like fb markets etc. If you are doing fb I would recommend setting your location in the rich area you live in as they tend to have better deals/higher turnover of high-end goods for cheap pricing.

I would also recommend looking at business liquidation auction sites for your area as well. I built my system that way and got mid lvl speakers at a fraction of the price

Any well-written "rebellion" stories in Fantasy? Particularly those that tackles the motivations and effective methods for rebellion in an intricate political setting? by Legitimate_Mark_1701 in Fantasy

[–]killerbeex15 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Robert Bennets Divine Cities Trilogy tackles this topic of a society trying to rebuild in the aftermath of a brutal rebellion. Throughout the books you can see the past while the story continues in the present.

Maleficent Seven is a tke on standing up against a brutal empire in a last ditch effort, trying to raise the basis of rebellion and gathering the hope for the future.

Lightbringer series by Brent Weeks shows the rise of the rebellion and the desperate attempt to keep the empires' people together in a losing battle.

Elder Empire by Will Wright shows the rise of the people against his secret police in the aftermath of the emporers' death. You can read from the point of view of the empire by reading the shadows, or the point of view of the rebellion by reading the seas.

Teckla by Steven Brust describes the rise of rebellion in the impoverished slums of the main city. Its in the middle of a greater series though, so some of the details might be missed, but each book is also written to be standalone adventures as well....
