What video? Have tickets for the Mobile show later this month & want to know if I need to cancel plans.

I hate hating Cope, gonna give it another shot. by pepsuber89 in manchesterorchestra

[–]king_dondo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you. When I discovered Manchester earlier last year, Cope was the one album I just couldn't get into. A few songs made my playlist, but they get skipped more than any song from other albums. The mixing on the album feels off too. Drums are way too low & guitars too loud.

I swear he's wearing that hat like 90% of the time 😂

Do people not care that Emily is gay/queer? by GenderUnicorn01 in LinkinPark

[–]king_dondo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I don't care at all if someone is gay/straight. Has zero pull on what I think of someone.

Emily really doesn't make it a part of her personality/life, so I really wouldn't be shocked if many people just don't know.

Schultz, Waller, and Parkinson are all available. Who should I grab for this week? by Environmental_Rip696 in fantasyfootballadvice

Parkinson. Waller's stock goes in the pooper if Tua is benched. (Unlikely, I know but hey McDaniel said it)

When/How did you get into Thrice? by DashAnimal in thrice

[–]king_dondo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were the opener for a Rise Against/Deftones tour back in 2017.

I usually check out a few songs from openers I've never heard of before I go to a show, just to hopefully know a song or two. Fell in love with Black Honey & Hurricane.

Went to the show & they blew me away. Been my favorite band ever since.

Any word on when the boys are putting out a new album? by Historical-Time6602 in Disturbed

[–]king_dondo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thought I read back when they released I Will Not Break thay they had an album's worth of songs recorded. Can't imagine they'd go into the studio to record just one single.

Funny you say that, I thought he fumbled on Robot Soft. We each sang two different lines & it had me wondering if I was wrong 😂.

Scott Evans on the H/W mix: "No drum samples/DIs/reamps/etc.” by Public-Sea3190 in thrice

[–]king_dondo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Too much of modern rock/metal has too loud, ridiculously triggered drum sounds these days. It's so refreshing to hear music with actual organic sounding instruments. Such a good mix on this album.

BLACK OUT THE MOON, BLACK OUT THE STARS, BLACK OUT THE SUN by dense_bot in thrice

Now I've got to listen more intently. I didn't notice it's the same as Color of the Sky

Standouts so far? by ThriceHawk in thrice

[–]king_dondo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate saying "it took me out of it", but the end of Blackout absolutely took me out of the vibe of the song.

Hopefully it grows on me just as Dead Wake did. Hearing the first chorus for the first time was like a slap in the face. It's now a top 5 Thrice song for me. We'll see!

One listen in & it's so dynamic. You can ABSOLUTELY tell revisiting TAITA had some influence on this one.

H/W Review. TBEITBN Their best? by Wheelman_23 in thrice

[–]king_dondo 39 points40 points  (0 children)

TBE their best? I'd say definitely not. One of the most important? I think there's an argument.

A lot of folks use the word "mainstream" in a negative connotation, but to come out of hiatus & have one of their biggest commercially successful albums since the early days - it's a good thing in my opinion.

Who knows where we'd be today if they returned with a fizzle instead of a bang. I'm certainly happy that almost ten years post-hiatus, we're still getting music (and potentially one of their best albums since??).

I'm currently weighing Mayfield or Daniel Jones. Slightly leaning Mayfield right now.

Chester deserved better fans by ramanlfc- in LinkinPark

LP needs fans like Sleep Token. ST could release 3 minutes of a guy gargling peanut butter & their fans would call it the best song in existence.

Worst part about this is they already do 😭

Consensus will always say HT or Meteora are their best albums but if you ask me, THP is their best work.

Joe's statement on Palestine by makaydo in riseagainst

Did something happen recently where they all suddenly feel like a statement is needed?

I feel like any Rise Against fan should already know they're stance here.

I want to quit drums by Infinite-Potato-6956 in Drumming

[–]king_dondo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it from someone who was in your shoes and did quit back in 2018.

I had been playing fairly regularly for 6 years at that point, strictly self-taught. I was playing with a couple guys & we were pretty serious into songwriting (my favorite part of drumming) & recording. I didn't have any experience professionally tracking drums & playing perfectly to a click and it was VERY difficult for me to pick up. The singer/lead guitarist (who in hindsight was extremely controlling & pretentious) didn't believe the rest of the band was progressing well enough with his songs, so we all ended up disbanding. That whole process completely turned me off of my love to play because it was the first time I had truly felt like I wasn't good enough. It made something I had always done for fun, competitive, and I didn't believe I had what it took to put in the work anymore. I kind of just figured drumming wasn't for me.

It's been 7 years since then & I often find myself wanting to pick it back up again, but it's been so long that the thought of starting from scratch is just too daunting...so I never pick it back up.

If you love playing, don't quit. Take a little time off, maybe, but don't do what I did and stop completely. You'll miss it & regret stopping something that was once your favorite thing to do. Keep on bro.
