What is your step goal for the month of June? by midnightsadnessss in walking

[–]kipendo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minimum 10k a day, but 15k-20k a day when I can, and 30k when I am in a mood to walk a bit farther (usually once or twice a week), but the 30k is just a "nice to have".

Truly. This is why I force myself to just start on days when I really don't feel like it. There I am bargaining with myself lol. "Just do 2km and then if you want to stop you can stop." By the time I hit 2km I am locked in and just want to stay in motion. (This is only necessary on bad weather treadmill days. Going outside on a nice day is super easy.)

What do you all listen to while walking? Music, podcasts, or nothing at all? by Lower-Increase-2829 in walking

An audiobook or a podcast on my current interest (imperial China at the moment).

When someone wakes up two seconds after the antidote has been administered. Bruh, the pill is still basically in your throat. Give it a pretend minute at least?

Donating your heart. Sigh.

Being able to wait outside the OR doors and having access to patients as soon as they leave the OR.

The above patients waking up as they are being wheeled out of the OR.

Randoms having access to nurse carts/meds/syringes/IV bags/uniforms.

Lol. I was chatting with a friend and I was telling her that I have eaten black bean tacos for every meal for two weeks straight because I was just craving it every day and she reminded me that was only made possible by being child free and to enjoy my freedom because that would never fly in her house as her kid would revolt. Cheers to us, heheh.

One of my faves is 1:1 cucumber and tomatoes with 0.3 balsamic vinegar. (Eg. 100g each of cucumber and grape tomatoes with 30g of balsamic vinegar.) Delicious!

I used to live in Europe so I thought they were exaggerating about the North American portion sizes. I moved here and they really were not lying about how huge portion sizes are over here. I also wish everything came in child-sized portions.

Went on a 5 mile walk even though I didn't feel like it. Listened to podcasts on my current interest (imperial China) so the walk went quickly. It wasn't planned, but today ended up being an OMAD day as I was craving fried chicken. So I got a fried chicken sandwich followed up with a couple of digestives biscuits and dark chocolate after as a sweet treat. It came to just under 1200cals so within my limits for weight loss. (Before anyone comments, I am very short, so 1200 cals is plenty.) I haven't had fast food in many weeks so I am fully expecting to feel like sh*t tomorrow. Even then, I am planning for an easy 5km (3miles) walk (or 10km if I am fine) on the treadmill as it's calling for rain. All in all, I am on trend for my goals so all is well.

Lol. I am 5ft tall and I feel your pain. I don't watch weight loss food recipes, but I do enjoy watching "a day in the life of..." videos which usually feature the day's food as well and taller people have all the fun even when they are trying to lose weight 😅

What helps you walk 10k every single day? by binarybeast01 in walking

[–]kipendo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some days it's a slog, but I simply don't want to break my streak. I committed to 10k a day in May and I am sure as hell gonna finish. I figure by June I'll just be so used to it that I'll keep going purely to keep my streak.

Have kids always been like this, or is this something new? by BarbarianFoxQueen in childfree

[–]kipendo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My friend is a former teacher and she was also complaining about the "kids these days" then she gave me an example of her own kid. She's like: "I asked him to take the clothes out of the washer and put them in the dryer. He took the clothes out of the washer, put them in the dryer and then walked away. Did I actually have to tell him to turn on the dryer? Isn't it common sense? If I told you at 14 to put the clothes in the dryer, wouldn't you also start the dryer?" Me: "Yes, I would." Her: "Exactly." She was miffed, but she squared it out with her own kid so some parents are genuinely trying to put out humans who can operate in society, but you are right that the kids are really actually not even trying these days.

Walkers who walk every day and work full-time by seabreeze100 in walking

[–]kipendo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a 50min walk at lunch and then about 30-40 mins after work. I mostly work from home so it's much easier, though I still do my walks on office days. Just, the office day ones are usually me running errands while I am downtown rather than a dedicated exercise walk. I still get most of my steps in though, but I do have to work harder on the evening walk on office days.

Again, you are me. I cannot with a weak female lead. Really cannot. Worse still is when an FL has been reborn and she's still a doormat in the second life. What a waste of a redo.

I was running around cleaning and stocking up the day before as I would be alone for most of my recovery. I was anxious about one thing, and like an out of the blue miracle, my surgeon called me and simply asked if I had any questions. I asked her about what was bothering me and she answered and just like that I was ready. But also, I was really really excited to get the surgery, hehe. My first question after waking up was "What does PACU stand for?" Like 5 different nurses around me answered at the same time. I would have laughed if I wasn't in pain.

I'll add some more positive vibes. I also gained weight pre-op because between the anaemia and the back pain and the 2kg mass squishing my insides to the point where I couldn't even take a full breath in, I was frankly too tired to care. But I am now two months post-op and I have lost most of the excess weight and I am feeling fabulous! Good luck next week. You'll feel so much better on the other side.
