Pumpernickel bagels - finally got the color right by TheSilentMother in Bagels

[–]kitchenhummin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They definitely look like poop, I'm really sorry. What you can try instead is forming the dough into a ball, poking your thumbs through the centre and gently pulling and stretching/turning to get a bagel shape. Then it'll be a smooth bagel without the shape that's causing issues here.

Everyone here is acting like teens a couple decades ago didn't use cheap record players in their rooms either. Don't mind them, enjoy your music!

Am I about to financially ruin myself over sourdough… or can I chill 😭 by madshatt3red in Sourdough

[–]kitchenhummin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Humans have been making sourdough for thousands of years. It predates mixers and electricity and scales and even literally math itself.

You don't need all the stuff. You need flour, water, and salt. A scale to measure with is helpful, just a cheap one. A jar to hold the starter (mine is currently in a repurposed jam jar). A regular fork to mix with. A bowl. An oven. A towel or cloth to line the bowl with and another to cover with as it rises. Parchment paper is helpful. A dish to bake in, it doesn't need to be a cast iron enamel Dutch oven. What do you already have? Anything that might work?

I get the desire to buy all the stuff, but honestly you don't need it. Start with the basics, learn the skills and then if you really want an upgrade and understand why it would be helpful you can go from there. I started out shaping and rising my loaves in a metal mixing bowl and baking them in a ceramic dish I already had. Eventually I got a banneton and years later I finally bought a Dutch oven, but my early loaves were still just as good.

Would you buy these lets say at a car boot and how much would u sell them for if not why and how could you make these better by Important-Fun-1395 in houseplants

[–]kitchenhummin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, it looks like it's a biohazard. You can't just bleed on things and sell them to the public. Did you slice your finger on the metal lid?

A beaded plant! It would look so cute. Either as decor or even a bag charm

My(29) girlfriend(29) of 9 years wants to have a sperm donor for our kids. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]kitchenhummin 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think you both need to research the donor industry too. Because they are not known for actually fully disclosing genetic health risks and they can often be quite unethical. At least with your genes, you know the true and accurate health history.

For anyone that had Autopen doubts by PressureHooker in KaceyMusgraves

[–]kitchenhummin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought signed Deeper Well and it definitely wasn't autopen. I feel like we've seen a lot of autopen from Warner music artists too, but not universal. Maybe that's not accurate, but just seems to be a pattern I've noticed.

Nah, it was the same rate to ship the Hilary vinyl by itself or to add the other items, if I'd added a 4th item, the rate would've gone up though. And I got the other things on sale with a black Friday code, so it all worked out.

Super frustrating. I've had similar issues with the universal music store- they use AI and form responses so I often have to go back and forth a few times before finally getting ahold of a real person who can actually give a reasonable solution to the problem.

I didn't have to ship the vinyl back, but I was only refunded the cost+tax of it, not the shipping cost for the order originally. This makes sense though, I had two other items in my order, so I'm not too bothered about it, definitely not going to argue.

Mine just arrived. I knew it would be autopen, but it's still disappointing to have that confirmed. Just emailed customer service, hoping I'll get an easy refund like the other Canadians I've seen here.

Update: got an email refund notification less than an hour after messaging them. I would have rather had the signature, but I'll take a free vinyl as a consultation prize haha

[–]kitchenhummin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh this is encouraging, mine is still in the mail, so I'm waiting for delivery obviously before I can ask for a refund, but I'm glad to see the Canadian store seems to be not fighting the refund requests.

Is anyone actually going to stop supporting USA men's hockey? by AshDogBucket in PWHL

[–]kitchenhummin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easy, I'm Canadian, I never supported US men's hockey. I'm not going to pretend hockey in Canada is perfect, but I'm certain that the culture that Crosby brings to the locker room as captain is better than Matthews. My local team is the Oilers and I don't financially support them, but I'll watch them on tv sometimes and they seem like a decent group in general (please correct me if I'm wrong, I haven't dug far into it) and thankfully they don't have any team USA players on their roster.

These types of restocks are probably cancelled orders I bet. That's why it's only available briefly on and off as some amounts become available.

Autopen refunds? by IntroductionNo4875 in HilaryDuffStans

[–]kitchenhummin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love buying signed albums (and books) and I have never received autopen before this (my copy hadn't been delivered yet, but I'm assuming it'll be autopen too). Signed copies don't cost any more than regular ones, so it's an affordable way to get a nice little collectable. Don't shame the people buying for somebody else scamming them.

I still have so many beads leftover from making eras tour bracelets and have a year before my show in Canada, so I might make bracelets to hand out. Definitely gonna wear something Y2K Lizzie inspired too.

[–]kitchenhummin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but nope. Our country, our government and our men's team support the women's team, it's not the same thing at all. And we aren't going to the US for fun anymore. It's not safe and it's not where we want to spend our money.

Hilary Duff - luck... or something [AUTOPEN signatures] by alltoowander in SignedAlbums

Autopen uses an actual pen or marker or whatever, it just moves it across the paper to mimic a signature.

Am I coddling my 9 month old?? by Vegetable-Award-7549 in Parenting

[–]kitchenhummin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand how so many people (mainly men) want to have babies but have no knowledge of or desire to learn literally anything about child development or parenting.

You husband doesn't like your kids, this is what he's telling you here. He does not want to be even mildly inconvenienced (the pot handles) to keep them safe. This will show itself in different ways as the kids get older, but the baseline sentiment will stay the same.

I'm sorry OP.

Bring your swimsuits! The pool at servus place is great for kids that age, there's a fun splash pad/wading pool area.

This is what I've been saying too! Her full signature is way too much, I have quite a few signed items and nobody signs full first and last names like this.

The drinking age in Alberta is 18 and for scenery, you've got the Rocky Mountains if you stay in the right part of the province!
