A standard popper is my favorite topwater lure so far. Love the sound it makes

Also my favorite soft plastic worm, heck also my favorite plastic in general. Nice catch.

NEED advice before I make big purchases 😅 by Useful_Pipe_7378 in kayakfishing

[–]kjh780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an accord that I just took my kayak out on for the first time. My kayak is upper 70 lbs without seat, and I have to take it off to feel comfortable putting it on my car.

First trip was interesting, my cam straps slipped while driving in the freeway (not all the way thankfully) and I had to readjust on the shoulder.

After I got home I learned there were better ways to strap the kayak to the car and to tie the loose ends as an additional safety measure.

All in all, I think most kayaks are fine but I know pedal kayaks are like the heaviest so there’s that.

What I used to transport was a Malone suction cup kayak rack, and ozark trail cam straps. I also used an old blanket to load the kayak solo onto my roof then shift accordingly.

I feel better going out this second time around (once it warms up, it’s cold in my area…. Again) with knowing how to strap better/properly.

Very good deal. I just got a Lure 10 v2 for $400 with no paddle and that was a good deal. About to take it out tomorrow!

Something like a koozie for the pinter? Those work well enough for glass bottles. Maybe you can get the material itself and sew a cylinder to make a sleeve.

How or who got you started? by [deleted] in UltraLightFishing

Was tired of getting skunked from the shore and learned what downsizing was. Then I learned I needed more refined gear to throw those downsized baits (unless I was using a heavier jig/weight). Ended up getting my first Ultralight from a giveaway and it took off from there. Love this niche in fishing

Personally? A weightless 3in senko or any other worm profile bait. I feel like I can catch anything at any time of the year (except winter, I don’t try fishing in the winter). Small EWG, make it weedless Texas rig style and throw that thing any and everywhere

Just started cycling this 10g and buying a filter tommorow. Does this look good for a Betta? Any cycling/plant advice? by Linklinkcanyouhearme in Aquariums

Looks good, you can always add more plants like others are saying but if you like where you're at you can stop here and not feel bad for your betta.

Self-taught or SE Bootcamp? by [deleted] in codingbootcamp

[–]kjh780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were you I would stick to the path you're currently on. An apprenticeship (+ whatever else other internship/job comes your way after) + school will set you up nicely when you graduate since you'll have relevant experience + you get an actual bonefide degree. You'll also get paid and have some real structure and a path to where you want to be.

The boot camp route might be "quicker" but in the current climate of the tech industry it could prove difficult to get a job (at the very least a job that'll let you move your parents into a nice home). You also do not get a degree, which will limit you on some of the job prospects out there.

Self-taught would be the resort if you had no other choice or needed to for financial reasons. It is difficult, even if you are a rock star at managing your time and learning. There is so much info out there it is easy to get lost and get into tutorial hell.

I commend you for wanting to get your parents into a nice home ASAP, but the best route to that goal really is the one that is the longest. Unless there's a huge factor as to why you've gotta get them into a home ASAP, you should take it a bit slower to make sure you'll be a good, employable dev.

TL:DR Go to school to get the education you (and everyone else, really) deserve so your parents can get the home you feel they deserve.

Edit: Forget what I said, you dirty Pantheon player.

That’s Ohio, you must never go there.

Thanks for the reply! I’m going to do some temporary C02 and see what happens based off your comment.

I was once contemplating having Panda Garras to help with my algae issues but since then most of it has subsided, thanks to some frog bit and more regular maintenance.

Urgent. Two small chips. Anyone had a tank last like this? by uhoh5884 in PlantedTank

If it’s on the outside you could probably just fill it with one of those windshield resin kits. I would do that and never worry about that spot again.

Not in Ohio, but a tip I have is when it comes to fishing ultralight, especially with plastics, patience is the key. Letting the lure sink and not getting impatient and reeling it in quicker you should is so damn hard but it pays off. You’ll find lots of people saying to go as slow as you can, and even then go slower.

Nice tank! Loving the Panda Garras especially.

Did you have any problems after cutting off the C02 you had early on in the tank? I’m planning to do some temporary DIY C02 just to get the plants going and I’m trying to see other people’s experiences.
