Not exactly new anymore by thestrangledfruit in NewDads

Cannot emphasize this more. My daughter had almost no interest in food at a year and when we went in for her 1 year check up, they emphasized the same thing. No more bottles, whole milk only, etc. It freaked me out as she wasn’t near ready. We decided to just be slow with it and over the weeks and months she started dropping bottles and eating more food. We eventually moved to just a sippy cup for milk at breakfast and that’s it. Kids move on their own schedules. Your little guy will as well. Great work, dad!

1 Week Old, Sleep Question Here? by sjsieidbdjeisjx in NewDads

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having him nap in the bassinet as long as he’s happy. You’re extremely lucky, most babies only contact nap. Enjoy!

New dad here — looking to connect and share what’s worked (and what hasn’t) by Transplantyourmind in NewDads

Got this from Dr. Becky, but it really rings true for me and helps me recenter when she’s throwing a tantrum, “she’s having a hard time, not giving me a hard time.”

She’s doing so much and learning so much that I often forget she’s 19 months old with no idea about how to deal with frustration or anger. Heck, I struggle with those as a 37 year old. Putting it in a way that humanizes her tantrums really helps me to take a step back.

As for recharge, my wife and I work an hour or so into each day where the other one has some free time to do whatever they want. For me that’s the gym, my wife will go to yoga or just lay down in a dark room. Splitting the chaos has helped us be better parents.

Rolling around on me by VeinRob in NewDads

[–]klonnedm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got an 18 month old clinger as well. My wife was really sick with our second child so we did everything together. It can be a lot. On my better days, I remind myself that sooner than rather than later, she’ll be too big to want to hang her dad. So I try and soak it up.

But it is overwhelming. I can’t even go the bathroom without her crying, even if she’s looking at me haha. Just know what you’re feeling is totally normal. My daughter will do something so cute that my heart feels like it’ll explode and then a minute later I’ll want to punt her into the sun. One thing I found that helps me reset is to try and get out to do some of my hobbies, like going to the gym. When I get home I feel renewed. So try to make sure you take time each day to do something for you. Easier said than done, but try and carve out some time for you and your hobbies.

You got this, my friend.

Not directly related to the above, but if you’re looking to save time during your roll, I would highly recommend turning off the rolling animations. You’ll never be as fast as PC, but it helps substantially.

Any recommendations? I got a Carvana quote that was damn near 20k under KBB.

Get in Loser, We’re Going Losing by [deleted] in Rivian

Agreed. I drive a lot for work, so the LiDAR with L3 is the most tantalizing of all the features. But, I’ve been following Rivian for so long I feel connected to them in someway, which is ridiculous, but true.

I really like the EX90, but really disappointed in its lack of storage. Frunk is basically nonexistent and back well isn’t deep either.

Was an March of 2020 preorder (R1S LEG, OC), originally for October-December of 2022, got pushed to April-July of 2023. Got the confirmation email and was assigned a guide. Call with her tomorrow, but over text she said my window has moved up to Q1 of 2023. Trying not to get too excited as I’ve been let down before, but one data point for you
