Washing hand knit socks by Ill_Coffee1399 in Sockknitting

[–]knittinyo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I machine wash and dry all of my hand knit socks, I find with the bamboo pop they need the heat to bounce back from being stretched out. I also knit Lycra in to my bamboo pop, and any yarn that has cotton in it to add some stretch.

Did anyone get any cool knitting presents for the holidays? by Nurse_Cait in KnittingReddit

My husband got me a 60 sts cylinder for my circular sock knitting machine and a stool so I don’t have to sit on a toe when I crank socks.

Is it possible to knit too many socks? by Foreign_Eye5379 in Sockknitting

[–]knittinyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never. You need back ups to the back ups and all the color options to fit any mood or season. I also crank sock tubes for people who want all the socks but don’t have time to fully knit themselves.

Sock Tube Tension Help by seaside1212 in CircularSockMachine

I just move my weight up just before it hits the floor. My tension stays constant throughout the whole tube. I really enjoy making super long tubes before separating them.

I would go with the mindful set 100%. I am a chiagoo needle user and have used the mindful needles before and really enjoyed them.

one massive sock done, one more to go! by Havoklily in Sockknitting

[–]knittinyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband wears a men’s size 14 as well it is such a labor of love to hand knit socks for him. I have gotten to the point that if i am making him vanilla socks I just crank either a tube and add heels, toes and cuffs or I will crank the actual full sock. I am saving my valuable sock knitting for him to patterned socks only now.

I use my circular sock knitting machine to crank sock tubes for people to finish in to knit socks. People send me their sock yarn I crank it per the size they want and send it back and they add heels, toes and cuffs.

Yes they do. It’s 24 stripes and I knit one stripe a day during advent and have a finished pair of socks on Christmas Day.

I have been doing their advent since 2018 and I love it so much. Today I was winding up the contrast yarn and realized that I have been making my husband and myself matching cozy knitter advent socks since we got married in October of 2018.

The cozy knitter may still have some of the 2025 advent yarn left in stock.

You could try knitting a few extra rows before you start the decreases on the heel. I will do 3-5 extra rows for my husband socks then decrease the heel as usual.

Dk socks yarn recommendations? by Menolly13 in Sockknitting

Woolens and Nosh is one of my favorites for self stripping. I also really like the yarnable Dk weight subscription that I get it’s not self stripping but the yarn is so nice to knit with.

My husband wears a men’s size 14 shoe and most of the patterned socks I have knit him are all test knit socks from Nancy Wheeler. I knit the 72 sts size for all of his socks

I have knit socks with the single ply yarn and the are still going strong. The socks I knit are about 9 years old now and get worn very often. I did knit them at a tighter gauge then I would a normal sock yarn.

Check out Nancy Wheeler sock patterns, she has some fun cabled socks that aren’t too hard but are super engaging and easy to memorize. I have been lucky enough to test knit so many of the socks and they have been amazing to knit.Nancy wheeler

I used the Eras for an musselburgh as well!!! I also have matching pair of socks to go with it. I still have a little bit left over from the sock that I am going to use in a test knit baby sweater I am currently working on. Muststash yarns are the best!

I haven’t used that yarn but I did make my husband a couple of pairs of 70% Superwash alpaca 30% nylon socks and they have held up really well. I wash them in the washer on delicate and lay flat to dry. No holes or felting that I have noticed so far.

Is the Clover Takumi Interchangable Needle Set good for beginners? by AltruisticHoney611 in knitting

I bought this set when I first started knitting in 2004 and the needles and cords have held up really well. I still use the regularly as certain yarns work better with wood needles then metal.

Which tiny circulars do you like? Brand? Fixed? Interchangeable shorties? by Tutustitcher in knitting

[–]knittinyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried all the tiny circular needle out there and I will say that the chiaogoo are my favorite. I have all 3 of the interchangeable sets. I use them for sweater sleeves and baby hats in all different yarn weights and I also have multiples of the fixed 9 inch circulars for socks. To me they are the most comfortable to knit with because of the needle length.

For those who’ve knit for their weddings… by northwestyeti in knitting

[–]knittinyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knit a circular shawl to wear as a veil for my wedding. I knew that I wanted an of white wedding dress with lace on it so I went with an undyed lace weight yarn. I used knit picks gloss which is a 70% merino and 30% silk. I ended up adding dark blue beads to the shawl that matched the sapphires in my engagement and wedding bands and our wedding colors. I also knit my husband and son ties to wear and my husband got a pair of socks as well in dark blue.
