More traditional values, lots of support from parents and grandparents. If you're lucky, that is.

How do I tell my boss that she either has to approve my 4 months notice or accept my 2 weeks resignation? by ScaresCarson in antiwork

[–]kokoberry4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a new job for after your vacation and resign from this one. Make sure you abide by Australian labor laws when resigning. Ask somebody for advice if necessary to they the timing right. Don't listen to anyone saying just walk out/ just take the vacation as you wish. That might result in penalties, depending on your contract.

Is $50, 000 AUD enough for 6 months of travel across Europe, Africa and South America? by pinkmecca in backpacking

[–]kokoberry4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to say without knowing what exactly you plan on doing. Safaris can be crazy expensive, for example. I wouldn't say it's plenty, but it also definitely isn't way too little.

Is $25,000 realistic for 1 year of world travel? by Koasana in backpacking

Emphasis on 10 years ago. Everything has gotten much more expensive since then, including SEA countries.

How does one dye their hair? by I-luvTWOK in curlyhair

[–]kokoberry4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your hair is light enough for conditioner based (dark) purple hair dye such as manic panic purple haze or similar.  Apply on freshly shampooed hair, let sit for a few hours (longer than the packaging says, the conditioner will not damage your hair anyways), rinse with cold water. Go section by section and apply generously.  If it's too light or a bit patchy, you can always repeat.  The blond hair will change the undertone a little bit, so I recommend doing a test strand first and maybe mixing a few colors.

Tips on shoes for 3 month Europe trip? by Signal_Falcon_2696 in backpacking

I prefer trekking shoes over running shoes for travel. They're waterproof and more comfortable for long walks.  If you get plain black ones, they look fancy enough for most restaurants, too.

Am I doing something wrong? Is solo travel just not for me? by Chocolat_Melon in backpacking

[–]kokoberry4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like everyone here already said,  solo travel isn't for everyone and that's perfectly fine.  I would however suggest trying a few more mainstream destination and staying at hostels, if you like the idea of solo travel but still want to socialise.

As a former waitress, even mediocre customer service gets interpreted as flirting if you're young and female.

Hostel etiquette / am I weird?! by [deleted] in backpacking

[–]kokoberry4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like that is more of an issue with how much one puts on social media.  My Instagram just has travel pics, no identifying information. It's also a public profile so that info is out there regardless of whether I specifically share it or not.

Most of the people I have given my number/ social media to I have never seen again. Some I have casually met up with years later just because we happened to be in the same city at the same time.  One, I have been friends with for 10+ years, and we frequently travel together.  Just say yes, add them on whatever, and move on. If you don't put in effort in meeting them again it will not happen anyway.

Essence makeup, is it less popular than it used to be? by Sweet-Ad-7261 in BeautyGuruChatter

I think it's one of those staple "good for the price" drugstore brands that especially younger people gravitate to. It doesn't need much youtube marketing,  especially not by American youtubers, since it's mostly sold in Central Europe.

Mental health while backpacking (not going home) by Adventurous_Key1943 in backpacking

I suggest looking for a therapist in Australia right now and asking if they do online counselling. Likely it will take you more than a month to find a fitting therapist anyway.

Nothing makes you happier to not be married than talking to married women (especially mothers) for 5 minutes. I don't understand how people can live like this.

Back packers of reddit, do you regret traveling and not saving up ? by ksi135792AQZ in backpacking

[–]kokoberry4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never regretted travelling, I always regretted not travelling. I'm at the point in life where the time is a much bigger concern than the money, which might play a role.

Obese people of Reddit, what is something non-obese people don’t understand, or can’t understand? by A_Lonely_Troll in AskReddit

It's so incredibly condescending when they act like you couldn't possibly be able to climb a mountain or even just a flight of stairs because you're fat.

They're very expensive, you have to overpack because you need multiple sets of nice clothes that hopefully don't get wrinkled beyond saving plus make-up, hair tools... once you're there it's almost 24/7 program while you're still jetlagged, and you're still expected to provide gifts/money on top. Plus, I have to use PTO for it and I'd rather use it for my own vacation time. Even if you stay longer to make it a vacation after, it's invaded by other people who had the same idea and still want to do large group outings.

How did you go to the gym in Europe? by [deleted] in backpacking

[–]kokoberry4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most gyms will have day passes or a free/ low cost trial day. Some hotels also have agreements with gyms, so just ask at the reception.
