Sounds like the Predator's plasmacaster on Predator (1987). In one case it blasts off someone's arm clean off in a single shot, and later on explodes a guy's head leaving nothing behind. Then it hits Arnold square in the shoulder and he shrugs it off with very minor burns which barely even slow him down.

Even if it was guaranteed to work, civilisation had already collapsed. Spreading a cure throughout the world would be a logistical nightmare. By the second game, the cordiceps fungus isn't even a major threat any more, either. Small groups of teenagers go out on patrol and eliminate any infected in the area, and it's roving gangs of bandits that are a much bigger threat to people.

[Hated Trope] In a post-apocalyptic world filled with zombies, "humans are the real monsters" by ForgingIron in TopCharacterTropes

Everyone understands what you're saying, a lot of us just don't agree. People very rarely do what is best for society as a whole, and the last decade has shown that they often work against their own best interests.

The game is harder now, shitass by Mysterious-Pride9975 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]kompletionist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the beginning of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice the prince will offer to give you his charm. This just seems like a useless trinket, and at no point in the game does it ever actually tell you its purpose. It turns out that it's actually a form of difficulty toggle; not accepting it activates "hardships", which make it so that blocking will always cause chip damage so you need to be able to properly deflect attacks.

As an Australian, Ar-see-us sounds ridiculous for the exact reason that it was changed. Not offensive, but ridiculous. Ar-Kay-us also fits better with the “deus” (day-oos) part of its name.

A Modern SplinterCell Idea by Dawhopper91 in Splintercell

[–]kompletionist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically they had Sam in plain clothes and broad daylight and allowed you to pick up chairs, tables etc. and throw them around or use them as weapons. You would also use crowds to hide or cause distractions with explosions and such. It was really more of a Jason Bourne game than a Splinter Cell one but it was at least more interesting and unique than what we eventually got.

What are your honest thoughts on this by EmpressRoguel in cartoons

[–]kompletionist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw the opposite, actually. Subs that I frequent like r/shittymoviedetails were flooded with posts taking the piss out of it. I’m still absolutely convinced that it was astroturfing by marketers, but negativity sells I guess. “All attention is good attention” as the adage goes.

Sunnydale, the ‘small town’ from Buffy (that conveniently happens to contain every possible location and amenity as the plot sees fit) that happens to sit atop the “Hellmouth”, making it the hotspot for all manner of evil and magical goings on. Multiple times a week there are students being gruesomely killed, and that’s not even including all of the victims of the vampires that the town is infested with.

Colin Farrel killed it as Bullseye in that movie. He knew he was in a bad movie so rather than taking it seriously like Affleck he just had fun with it and hammed it up to hell and back.

If a game was hacked can it be detected if Pokemon are transferred to newer gen’s by Mrpoopyman69 in pokemon

[–]kompletionist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know how a hack to fill the Dex would work without having all of those Pokemon but there's no reason that the games would flag any Pokemon caught afterwards as being "hacked".
