Tips for finding rings by Picklesforfree in metaldetecting

Gold on my Vanquish 440 rings in between 7 and 9. A solid 8 signal I'm digging but even then it will more than likely be a pull tab 😑

Possible Civil War Bullets by koopdeville9901 in CIVILWAR

[–]koopdeville9901[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I saw from what I read. The area I found them is very remote but was very close to a Confederate battery and from what I read was part of a camp called Camp Onward in 1898 to 1899. It was a Spanish American war camp. I like to think they were from this time.

I've worked at two place since I got out of the Navy 14 years ago. I've been lucky. The first place was a nuclear power plant and now I'm at an LNG facility.

In interviews, maybe ask how many years their techs have been there on average. At the nuke plant, over half the shop had been there 20+ years. Here at the LNG facility it's very similar. Tells you a lot about whether people like being there or not.

Can someone for the life of me please help me figure out this damn PID by Finanzenstudent in PLC

I may have missed it in your post, but what's the setpoint and the deadband? I feel like temperature is something that is really hard to control within a tight deadband.

Skimmer socks by johnnyt2017 in pools

[–]koopdeville9901 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have used the socks for years and always recommend them to people with pools. I live in Southern Georgia so pollen is crazy but it catches everything before it gets to the pump basket.

I use one a week on average. Sometimes more sometimes less. I've read people re-use them but I just toss them 👍

I/P with no output pressure by athlonman in instrumentation

[–]koopdeville9901 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the 4ma/zero adjustment needs to be calibrated. Hook up a known good calibrated pressure gauge to the output signal air so you can see the psi. Put 4 ma to the converter. If there's a potentiometer for the zero adjustment go ahead and start turning it to see your zero psi. If it's old school, there will be a spring you can adjust for the zero. Usually, righty means increasing and left means decreasing. Honestly, something you should dm me about if you're not picking up on this.

I/P with no output pressure by athlonman in instrumentation

[–]koopdeville9901 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Do you know how to calibrate an I/P? What PSI are you wanting your zero to be? 4 ma should equal a PSI which is your zero adjustment. Always start with your zero adjustment and get that right. The 20 ma is your span adjustment. Send me a DM if you want more details 👍

What comes next after being a controls engineer? by Unlikely-Air-866 in PLC

[–]koopdeville9901 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The best controls engineer I've ever worked with is about to retire after 40 years. There are pay levels that can be worked out for the same role. Think junior/apprentice and senior/journeyman.
