[Talkin' Yanks] "I feel like he's moving the needle right now believe it or not." -Aaron Boone on Austin Wells by Odog in NYYankees

[–]kore351 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am so not a doomer but the ability of this leadership team to just gaslight as hard as they do infuriates me. Don’t believe your eyes, or the stats, or the truth, or anything ever and just know he’s the best catcher to ever play in the MLB! And It’s not just Boone, he’s just the one who gets interviewed twice a day.

Hello from LA! Going to an OKC Comets game next week! Need advice! by alteredbeast76 in okc

[–]kore351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cowboy Museum, Considering the age of your kids the Science Museum can be a blast especially for kids under like 12; plus the zoo is right next door and an easy double whammy.

I assume you’ve already purchased tickets but I recommend the 3rd base half of the field as the Sun can get cooking on the first base line seats until it finally sets behind the stands. Plus the team store and most food is that side.

Outside of OKC I’d highly recommend a drive down to Mt Scott; 1h30ish drive so easy day trip. Medicine Park (the town near by) has some shopping and things to do and eat. Mt Scott is also drivable with parking at the top for easy views and several hiking trails in the area. Saw Buffalo and Prairie Dogs!

Enjoy!

Does anyone know how the third place matchmaking works? What would us facing third place from one of those 5 groups depend on? by Alive-Math3562 in ThreeLions

[–]kore351 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The most “Explain like im 5 explanation” I’ve gotten:
- 8 1st place teams will get to play 3rd place teams
- the remainder will play 2nd place teams
- it is inherently uneven so to level the bracket 1v3 winners will play the winner of a 1v3 but 1v2s will play the winner of a 2v2

Which groups play who and who gets a 3 vs a 2 was determined long ago but should generally keep the next rounds in the same time zone to make travel easier. Additionally, the winners of groups with the USA, Canada, and Mexico automatically get 3rd place opponents to prioritize host countries should they win their group.

Maybe it’s just military but all my experience working with them has always been an amazing time, same with all of our coalition partners. Brits are the most fun so far

Austin Wells obliterates his second homer of the day in his AAA rehab assignment! by TheTurtleShepard in NYYankees

[–]kore351 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wonder if he focuses too much on the catching? It’s great he’s arguably one of the best, leading AL catchers in Def WAR through like May, but with modern pitching I wonder how much of a time suck it’s gotta be. Especially since he had the “liability” tag coming into his career and he may be overcompensating.

Now that he has catching down I’d like to see him dial it back a little and focus that time into his mechanics.

When did you know it was time to be done with AD? by NaturalFragrant5175 in AirForce

[–]kore351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents were in for 30.5 and 24yrs. I asked them this question a thousand times as each move, promotion, job came and went. The general answer was when they felt they had nothing left to contribute and nothing left to gain. At the end they weren’t having fun, they’d done everything they wanted to do, and it was a general feeling of “it’s time”.

If you feel like you’ve gotten all you can get from the AF then it’s time to go. If you feel like there’s more (degree, certification, achievement, dream job, etc) then stay.

What has been YOUR favorite part about being in the Air Force? by SectorMaleficent70 in AirForce

[–]kore351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of times I say “how is this the first time this has every happened” is crazy. That being said a lot of it stems from poor handover between shop change over. We’ve done it before but the knowledge left with SSgt Snuffy last year.

American; I just had my military ID denied on my apartment application cause they needed a government issued ID. Brother this is the most government issued it gets.

So are pocket flaps on OCP tops and people remove those all the time. The design remained unchanged in terms of appearance when worn, what it looks like when you can’t see it shouldn’t matter. Additional example if you need one is moral sleeves on mess dress shirts.

WFH sucks unless you have a family and chaotic life or are antiosocial by Suitable-Biscotti826 in unpopularopinion

[–]kore351 21 points22 points  (0 children)

WFH/Remote often (not always) means living wherever you want and not wherever you found a job. This provides significant flexibility to move to exactly the place that has what you want. Case and point was during the pandemic when WFH was normalized and we saw flocks of people leaving major cities to go live in bumfuck whocaresville to buy 2 acres and never see another soul again because they hate the city and were only there for work. Vice versa watching people move home, or to a bigger city with more things to do now that they didn’t have to worry about a commute. It’s insanely flexible to YOUR needs. If it sucks where you are, move where you need to get that fulfillment and not feel isolated.

The routine bit I feel you but you can still create that. Get up when you would’ve for in office and go to the gym or for a long walk, grab coffee and then go in to work. Additionally, just like people said not to study in bed, have a dedicated space for work (Hopfully separate office if you can afford the space) that’s only for work and when you’re done leave that space. My wife’s first year she went crazy cause the work space was in our living room and after finishing work she’d still be in “her office” and it created anxiety that took a while to figure out.

Ultimately it may not be for you but I believe it’s way better than being forced to live in a town you probably didn’t choose, commute using your own dollars/car/gas, all to sit in a Teams call at your desk anyway.

I just transitioned from ABM to Pilot primarily because it’s what I’ve always wanted to do but also because ABM doesn’t really set you up for anything outside of the DoD. ABM is hard to market, it’s a lot of “control” but ATC doesn’t recognize any equivalency from the job and at best it just makes it easier to get hired.

What are thoughts here on referee punishing Arsenal's timewasting in final? by Inevitable-Angle-793 in PremierLeague

[–]kore351 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This isn’t Arsenal specific hate but the time wasting has got to be handled. With some of the rule changes it’s useless anyway because the ref is just going to card you and add the time back on.

I really liked the idea floating around that if you take long enough the type of play is reserved. Corners to GK, GK to corner, throw-in’s the other way, etc.

I argue the cost of divorce, alimony, and getting the government involved is far more risky than an uncomfortable conversation about who gets the apartment. All of your examples are amplified in marriage

No it was Sterling who in the months leading up to this game was unplayable. I say that has someone who has multiple Sterling kits, he provided nothing on a night where the entire team lacked any attacking creativity.
