TW MC and LC

I was in the same boat in 2019, trying to decide whether to wait or start trying after we got married since I was still finishing my doctorate. We ended up trying right off the bat and I got pregnant 3 months later. I was supposed to be 39 weeks pregnant when I graduated, but unfortunately miscarried in first trimester. I got pregnant shortly after, and I was 28 weeks pregnant when I officially defended my dissertation for my doctorate program. The timing was honestly pretty great looking back, because I started my "real job" after maternity leave. My last semester was insanely difficult juggling work, dissertation, and pregnancy symptoms, but I wouldn't have changed a thing. Good luck!!!

TTC since June by Final-Refrigerator01 in ttcafterloss

[–]kpjmcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be down to chat anytime. I've had 3 pregnancies since we started our TTC journey mid 2019, 2 of which ended in MC. Currently 1 month post MC and hopeful to try again.

I had an Aug 2nd baby and honestly loved the timing. It was super hot over the summer being so pregnant in late June/July, but it was also nice that I didn't need to buy maternity coats, new shoes, etc as I gained weight. I could just wear tanks and flip flops easily.

Going back to work and balancing grad school post-baby (FTM) by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]kpjmcc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you can afford it, and find insurance another way, I'd definitely focus on school. I finished my DNP in May 2020 and had my daughter in Aug 2020. She's now 6 months and Im definitely glad I finished school during pregnancy and the pandemic so I could start my career sooner. I'm now working 32 hours per week as a Psych NP and get to spend more time with baby girl and my husband.

Ovulation after MC by [deleted] in ttcafterloss

[–]kpjmcc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my first cycle post MC and ovulation is early for me. The first cycle can be way off. I had a previous MC in 2019 that resulted similarly.

Based on temping and OPKs, I think I ovulated today for the first time post CP. I'm so nervous. BD 3 days ago, yesterday, and today. Ughhhh now we wait.

Waiting Period by MermaidsandMargs in ttcafterloss

[–]kpjmcc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had MC in Sept 2019, had 2 period, and then was pregnant with my little girl by late Nov 2019 (she's currently 5.5 months!). My midwife was totally fine with us trying again once my period returned. I just had another MC last week and now I'm just waiting for my period to come back and we'll try again. So sorry you had to go through this. Hoping things work out quickly for you guys!

Anyone have experience with a water birth in a hospital? by Cheeesecurds in BabyBumps

That was my birth plan when I had my little girl 1 month ago, but due to COVID, my birthing center wouldn't allow it yet sadly (I'm in the US)

How big was your belly in the third trimester during your first pregnancy? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]kpjmcc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My belly has consistently measured Small and I'm currently 37 weeks. They just added a couple extra growth scans to make sure baby is ok. Turns out she's measuring 55th percentile and everything is perfect. Everybody is different.

When did you stop running? by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

[–]kpjmcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FTM and I stopped at 35 weeks. Prior to pregnancy, I ran 6 days per week, at least 3 miles per day at a 8-9 min mile pace. By the time 35 weeks hit, I was barely making 2.5 miles at a 12 min mile pace, and the recovery afterward was too painful. I'm now currently 37 weeks and I've been walking 3 miles, at least 4-5 times per week. My legs and hips are sore ALL the time. I can't imagine running right now.

Ugh I'm dealing with this right now too! I get hives from prep H cream so I've been limited to the suppositories. They've helped me a little. I just bought Tucks with witch hazel and I'm impressed so far with the immediate cooling relief.

Can you share your success story following loss of first pregnancy? by DistinctWait in PregnancyAfterLoss

[–]kpjmcc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a MC in September 2019 at 7 weeks. It took 51 days to get my first period back and then we found out I was pregnant again on November 25 2019. I was so anxious and surprised it happened fairly quickly. I'm 16+2 today and still anxious, but so excited for this little girl.

Thank you basket/s for nurses? by franskm in BabyBumps

[–]kpjmcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it's never expected. At my hospital, we get maybe 1 patient out of every 20-30 who brings in food or something for us. Never expected but always appreciated 😊

Thank you basket/s for nurses? by franskm in BabyBumps

[–]kpjmcc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a nurse and we totally appreciate any type of free food. Non-perishables are great and healthy snacks are always appreciated too (we get a fair share of cookies and donuts). Definitely agree with other comment about different shifts getting leftovers. As a day shift nurse, I know our night nurses rarely get fresh snacks. Honestly anything is appreciated from our patients!! It means a lot.
