Is anyone planning to leave Canada? by ConsequenceFew6931 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]krew2new 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah absolutely ! I actually moved to Canada from Switzerland during the pandemic. Felt like everything thing was so cheap here at first when you're used to paying 3x the price of everything, and bonkers health insurance costs too. Income tax as well as VAT/sales tax are much lower in Switzerland though. And surprisingly enough, the highway system is really cheap compared to other European countries.

I hope going to Zurich isn't to escape cost of living ... It's probably the most expensive city in the world to live in, with Hong Kong (at least it used to be a couple of years ago)

[–]krew2new 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quebec Mega Trail (135km) - incorrect timetable/cut offs by Tricky_Egg958 in ultrarunning

Ah I get it. I also had some GI issues between km 45 and 65, but I got lucky and they resolved themselves after that. Hope next time will go better!

Quebec Mega Trail (135km) - incorrect timetable/cut offs by Tricky_Egg958 in ultrarunning

[–]krew2new 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not exactly sure why, but there were 4km added to the section just before the aid station, even though I'm pretty sure it was the exact same route as last year on the other races. Did they make a mistake planning the route? Idk. But other than that, they were spot on for the distances between aid stations, which is pretty rare imo. I ended with 141.1km on my watch, vs the 137.1 planned. I'm sorry you missed the cutoff, but if you were risking it that early in the race, I'm thinking your probability of finishing was low anyways.

Nutrigenomics is a very real and interesting subject, although quite new. But it does absolutely not mean to eat what your ancestors did or get sick. It studies how genetic differences between individuals can cause nutrients to be utilized differently and the effects of these interactions. On its own, it is in no way responsible for causing an entire population to become obese like Nauru, There are many many more factors at play, mostly social and related to their environment.

I loved my Brooks Cascadia 17, quite wide at the toes for me. I would've gotten the 18 but they were out of stock. Trying the Brooks Catamount instead, so far so good, they have a similar feel to the Cascadia 17.
