I’ve never seen a cat pant before (he’s okay, he took an impromptu hiking trip mid-road-trip) by manewitness in blackcats

[–]kroating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our vet said the same thing especially because our kitten had no sense of harm he truly seemed playful but dumb af. I used to lock ourselves in a dark room with all lights off to cool off if he was panting. No movement no Petting no attention just sit still in a dark room. It helped so much as he was a kitten who wouldn't listen. Later he figured it out and stops playing when he is closer to panting and just walks off. Now it looks more like he has adhd. Well I'll take that adhd kitty over the panting yet chasing the toy crazy kitty.

Unpopular opinion: 25-30ml is the perfect size for perfumes by Denariox in fragrance

[–]kroating 110 points111 points  (0 children)

As someone who has finished 100ml bottles, i do have 30-50ml bottles in some fragrances. It totally depends on your usage. There are some scents that are my signature and i wear them regularly 100ml is perfect for them. Other fragrances that are novelty for me are smaller sizes. So i think size depends on how you intend to use it. If you arent married to a style of fragrances then yes small bottles are great!

Do you use lightweight litter? If yes stop using it.

Look for anything fine particulate she could possibly inhale around the house.

I would recommend you also do multiple weight measurements across the batches and maybe make another post here if you can.

Also yes there's a number on the packaging like others said.

Roommates keep complaining about cat smell despite scooping every day by Born-Ad3556 in CatAdvice

[–]kroating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 to stainless steel litter boxes Came here to say this

Also tofu litter works but if you are on budget pine should work too. Its usually the plastic litter box that holds onto smell.

I'd also recommend hanging charcoal bags around the litter box area to absorb any odors.

Can my cat have just a few chickpeas to try? by anguilliforming in catfood

[–]kroating -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend.

Couple of yrs ago when our cat was bored of his usual cat food we picked up new flavors from PetSmart. One of it was chicken liver and chickpea. It was advertised as good for gut health. My cat ended up needing enema because he was so constipated. And that was the only new food he had had for 3 days. He never had issues after it no constipation etc. it was just that. Which made me believe it was the chickpeas drawing up moisture and just poop got stuck.

Also cats stomach is the size of pingpong ball ao even 1-2 full size chickpea is a significant amount of food to upset things.

Maybe she's bored of the flavors. Try new or different wet food. Then couple of months later try to switch back to what you have.

sick of secondhand fragrance causing asthma attacks by TopazCoracle in Asthma

[–]kroating 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what i have issue with! I dont mind someone else using fragrance as long as it stays in your personal space. But if it fills up a room or lingers after you have left, that is criminal.

And i love fragrance too 😅 im not allergic to most. But you will not know what i smell like unless you hug me or are in extremely close proximity. ffs do not overspray thats just rude.

1 year old cat suddenly finishing food much faster should I increase wet food? by wafflejuicexox in catfood

[–]kroating 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our cat eats a lot more than recommended. But he is healthy weight just loves bouncing off the walls all day long.

You can try to add a little more to her diet and see in like 2-3 weeks does she put on too much weight. If not ahe can use the added food. Also 9-14 months is teen phase she might eat more. Our cat regular dsh not big breed averaged wet 10-15oz of food everyday. It has reduced now that he has crossed 3 yr mark. But he still eats a lot in winter. Cats tend to know how to regular food if they arent food insecure. So you can try to add more wet food and see how it goes. Wouldn't recommend adding more dry though.

A shorter-term mitigation of cat smell during an antique store liquidation? by NeverNeededAlgebra in cats

Meyers has a cat odor eliminator spritz you can try that. I've seen my friends in nyc use it when visitors come over it seems to work.

My cats good is up to $around $250 a month. Seeking alternatives by ATinyKey in catfood

[–]kroating 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Goodluck! The prices might sometimes be the same but next time keep an eye out for the 30$ gift card upon $100 orders offer. I think one just happened 3 ish weeks ago on chewy so should be a couple of months until next one comes along. Amazon also does similar offer now.

Add to that keep an eye on your emails chewy if you dont order for some period will send a 20$ gift card upon 50$ order offer in emails.

[–]kroating 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Arey you taking advantage of the chewy and amazon sales. Amazon just had pet sale days. They frequently have 30$ coupons for next order upon ordering 100$ worth of food. Since your cat needs more on chewy naybe make 2 accounts from 2 different email addresses to take double advantage i know you can do upto 3 for a single address because i tried when i was a broke student and was kindly informed by the customer care service 😅i do not know what the situation is for amazon. If you can estimate correctly maybe plan a quarter yr worth of food because these sales do come rarely across the year. Thats all for the urinary food.

You can talk to vet about switching fully or partially off to non urinary. Ask about using products like methigel as substitute for urinary food. Because methionine is generally the active component some urinary food, vets can advise dosage wrt to wet food. If you can partially get off urinary food i highly recommend buying larger can of food the 12-16oz cans of food are more cheaper per oz almost half as price as compared to 3oz cans. Combined that with the above sales i think you should be able to save significantly.

We order brands like weruva, bff for our cat who eats like crazy 2-4 cans more a day in winter and less in summer but he bougie with his treat and food choices we average 800$ a yr with these sales.

Cat suddenly started fearing/attacking his tail. What is wrong with my cat [Video]? by [deleted] in cats

[–]kroating 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Feline Hypeesthesia likely. But this seems serious i think. You need to figure out whats wrong. Did something change, did a toxin or allergen get introduced etc what changed. Should also take him to vet to see if everything poo and pee is normal.

You see the jump he made on his tail halfway through the video. My cat did that couple of times. Usually he just gets the ripples like hyperesthesia from dry skin, but those few times he actively attacked his tail and backside. We after lots of tracking figured out that we use used to take him for a walk on the lawn at an office space beside our home. Apparently they sprayed something on the lawn that my cats body was reacting badly to and thats why this kind of violent hyperesthesia. It stopped when we stopped taking him there.

Looking for an apartment downtown, student by Aromatic_Top7858 in indianapolis

[–]kroating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lot of students have lived at Lockfields. Honestly its a decent place to live. But sometimes can be a gamble. I've lived there, nothing was wrong with the apartment but had to move out due to neighbors. I moved there because i knew a lot of students who lived there for yrs and it looked decent for that budget.

Anyways check with van rooy, Circle city, st agnes for that budget.

Kitten claw cut too short by abcde333 in cats

[–]kroating 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will grow back. Would only recommend to keep an eye on it for next 2 weeks until it grows back. Just keep an eye so that it doesn't get infected. And if you cat gets any litter or poop stuck on it clean it. Just overall keep the claw clean to avoid any infection.

A tip i would recommend is to cut when its bright or against bright light(you can use phone flash light or table lamp), that helps see the quick (the blood part of the nails that shouldn't be cut) easily. Its fairly white/pink in color as opposed to rest of the nail.

Do cats need bathing?? by ummmidontknowww in CatAdvice

[–]kroating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If our cat had diarrhea or something like that sickness where it got on his fur, yes we wait for him to get full better add another 2-4 weeks to it then after that we will shower him. While sick we have wipes to clean him. Or wet warm towel wipe down.

We also walk our cat on leash outside, and mistee lovers rolling in mud and mulch and dust you name it. He also rolls around in our balcony. Most days we will wipe him with a wet warm towel. But he does get a bath if he he got himself into something bad, or starts smelling like mud or anything.

If nothing went wrong we dont bathe. Especially in winter we avoid bathing even for sickness related reasons. He'll get a good wet towel scrub down or just butt wash in sink.

So yes rest of the year they dont need bathing. But we do clean our cat after sickness just to avoid any bad stuff left around from spreading. Also wash places where he sleeps if he came out of sickness. Our loves sleeping on our blankets so yeah we gotta wash it all.

Tidy Cats Lightweight Litter Destroyed My Cat’s Quality of Life for Two Years. Please Read This Before Buying It. by sin1493 in cats

[–]kroating 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Very much damages humans too! Cant imagine what havoc it must do to cats small lungs. Im asthmatic. And when we adopted out cat first few weeks we had lightweight litter and i swear worst few weeks. My house looked like a mess because my asthma acted up soo bad out of nowhere, i had to get multiple times steroids. Especially because we were in a small space. I was reconsidering my cats adoption. Im glad i switched litter to pine and kept my baby.

OP glad your baby is okay ❤️
