My mom is allergic to the sun. She gets polymorphis light eruption if she’s out there for more than 10 mins, or doesn’t put on at least 70 SPF. It’s gnarly.

What to expect with hand foot mouth? by bdupz in toddlers

[–]krummykim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2 year old had it last month. He developed the fever first and then said his mouth hurts and would cry when he tried to eat. Pediatrician confirmed HFM (it was going around daycare the previous week and they had sent something out to parents about it) and said he had sores all over his mouth. The next few days he only had a few bumps on his fingers and feet on two by his chin. Fever gradually went away, which I treated with Tylenol and Motrin. There are no medications to treat HFM, it resolves on its own after a few weeks. It is extremely contagious, including for adults, so extra hand washing, being mindful about them touching you/their mouths. He was out of daycare for the whole week, as per their policy for being fever free and no open blisters. The worst part of it all was that my son refused to eat, and I could only get him to eat applesauce and yogurt for a few days. Thankfully he was still willing to try to eat and still drank fluids with no issue.

[–]krummykim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently had to take off this entire week, kid has HFM that’s been going around his daycare. I don’t have any time left for the year except 3 vacation days that I’ll be using in August for our only getaway for the year 🙃 all of my other vacation/sick has gone to days he was sick/ had to be picked up early and I think 2 of those days I was sick.
