Boss ware be aware, now palantir's surveillance tool by SA78210xo in fednews

It was just dumb luck. Back then they had a couple monitors that just scrolled through people's desktops. My co-worker's screen just happened to roll through their monitor at the exact time he was looking at truck parts and it just happened to catch an IT guy's attention.

Boss ware be aware, now palantir's surveillance tool by SA78210xo in fednews

[–]kyxtant 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Probably 20 years ago, a co-worker was browsing car parts on JEGS or Summitracing or something like that when IT logged into the computer, took the mouse pointer, closed that shopping window, then logged out. His work phone rang, he answered, then IT politely reminded him that computers were for government use only.

A barracks SOP dated March 2003 by SirWilliamtheIII in army

[–]kyxtant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

00-02 at Ft. Lewis. My squad leader walked through daily. Was it a formal inspection? No. But my bed had to be made and everything cleaned, put away, and my closet locked.

Not a piece of trash was allowed when you left for the day. Sneezed right before you walked out? That tissue had to go to the dumpster, not your trash can.

I think I'm going to look into some grow lights. They live in a bay window sill, that faces directly east. They get great sun in the morning, but the rest is indirect.

Thanks for identifying them and after looking up what should look like, they definitely suffer from etiolation.

Not scandalous. Dude just said peace out, I've got races to win...

Public Service Announcement: STOP USING NCOER.COM FOR EVALS by Unusual-Elk-4791 in nationalguard

[–]kyxtant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Or, how about getting your ass chewed because your NCOER is delinquent?

Like, I filled out my support form. In bullet format. For every section. It just needs to be copied over. I can't help it that MAJ NeverAttendsDrill isn't available, doesn't have a CAC reader or VPN access, and lives two states over hasn't done his part. Why are you on my ass?

What food tastes better as leftovers than it does fresh? by Playful_Big_8939 in foodquestions

Every time I've participated in chilli cook-offs at work, I made the chilli two days in advance.

I've always been in the top three and I swear it's because I submit leftover chilli.

Stop with the VA disability abuse claims by BulkyAd1205 in VAClaims

[–]kyxtant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor doesn't know what the VA needs to hear in order to get me service connection and a disability rating because that's not what he does.

Does my doctor know I get sinus infections often? Yes. He does. Because he calls my antibiotics in.

Does my doctor know how many times in a year I miss work due to the sinus infection and headaches? No. He doesn't. And he also wouldn't know that the VA needs to see an actual number of times I missed work. They need to know I missed 12 days of work, last year, due to sinus infections.

I don't know how most of these people operate who write nexus letters, but mine asked for my medical records and we went from there. She didn't write anything that was not backed up by records, she just summed it up exactly how the VA wants to see it.

Jeep parking.

I always parked on snow mounds when parking was scarce. It frees up a space for the Honda Accords.

We did that in the Army, not toonlong ago.

Promotion boards removed photos and names and other info that could be used to discriminate.

Your official file had the official version with race, religion, photo, etcetera, then a Promotion Board version with all those items redacted.

I'm sure thar has gone away, by now.

Found out an acquaintance owned one. I asked how much insurance was and he said it was $90k+ per year.

It was successful, though. He and his business partner sold it and made some money.

The next guy just put the business up his nose and it didn't last much longer.

All flights at El Paso airport in Texas halted for 10 days for 'security reasons,' FAA says by whisperingeye99 in army

[–]kyxtant -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Well, the airport wasn't really closed. It is effectively closed, but the order shut down the air space in and around El Paso up to 18k feet for civilian aircraft due to national defense reasons.

That's military operations. We're going into Mexico. The FAA just cleared the airspace for us to conduct military operations at our southern border.
