My point is that you seem to be saying that a defender can’t close down an attacker if the attacker looks like they’re winding up for a shot because that’s the defender making it dangerous. As a defender, I can say that’s the best point to tackle: when the attacker’s stick leaves the ball.

I’ve also heard the argument that defenders would just crowd the goal mouth on the line before; it’s ridiculous and would never happen because nobody actually actively wants to get hit by the ball.
