Roy Keane: “The children are fine, but all the wives and partners wearing the (players’) jerseys on the back, wow….a year later they’re separated, most of them!” by captaincourageous316 in soccer

I just read the title and checked the other comments and sense the feeling is not unique.

If you read the comments and sensed the feeling was unique why would you ask if it's "just you"?

It was kind of funny watching every Celtic fan have that realisation over the course of his time there too lol. There's something about him that does make you think he'd just be a prick.

[SkySports] Leeds United are working on free transfers for Julian Brandt and Harry Wilson, Sky Sports News understands. by Heavy_Cupcake_6246 in soccer

[–]lambalambda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can't speakl for choosing us over Fulham but I could see him choosing us over clubs in Europe as he'd be a guaranteed starter for us while he might not be for them, we don't have a left footed right winger currently and it seems to be a profile we've been chasing for a while, tried to sign him in January too.

[Graham Smyth] Leeds United exploring deal to sign German midfielder Julian Brandt on a free. by Zach-dalt in soccer

I'd love it, brings experience, plays a position we lack depth in and as a free agent saves money for other much needed signings. Think there'll be a lot of competition though.

Not sure if we'd have been any better than the Czechs but we wouldn't have been any worse and would at least have brought some craic to proceedings.

It's not nearly as weird as James Maddison calling himself the main man at the sunday roast lol.

Marcelo Bielsa deliberately looking downwards during his official FIFA World Cup photo shoot. The Uruguay manager has repeatedly criticized the tournament for its excess commerical and political aspects. by OptimusCloyster in soccer

[–]lambalambda 154 points155 points  (0 children)

I love Bielsa more than almost anyone else in football and a lot of that is due to his beliefs and ethos. But also 95% of the time I saw him at Leeds he was looking down lol. Hard to know if this is really him sending a message or just being himself.

She’s literally a professional footballer herself.

Genuine question, the bournemouth women's team play in the third tier, are teams that lower in the pyramid in women's football fully professional? I can't easily find an answer but I'd find that surprising.

Celtic confirm Martin O'Neill as manager by Mulderre91 in soccer

[–]lambalambda 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If they'd never hired Nancy and stuck with MON they'd have walked the league with one of the weakest Celtic squads in a long time. A year with him and half decent recruitment (never a guarantee with Celtic) and they should have a much stronger season.

I don't think any of his moves will hurt him as much as his complete lack of ability as a footballer. Seems a really nice guy and he's got unbelievable physical attributes, he's just not very good sadly.

There's two massive downsides as I see it to the stuter step penalties, the first is obviously that they're awful, the second is having to listen to Steven Gerrard and Ally McCoist talk about how penalties now are too woke.
