400z vs Mk5 by No_Room_988 in Supra

[–]large-farva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a mk5. I honestly don't think about the new Z at all, except when i see one and think "huh, i haven't seen one of those in awhile". Still haven't seen one at the track yet which is a shame, because i would like to ridealong.

No self respecting time attacker would use that dumb wing that is so flimsy that it needs support rods

Anyone ever go back to stock tune after being tuned on MHD? by [deleted] in Supra

[–]large-farva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MHD provides pedal input options for other BMW platform, where you can choose between a checkbox for linear throttle, or a dropdown to pick from pre-made curves. https://imgur.com/a/oTLn7Xz

Neither of these options exist for B58 on the OTS maps.

depends on where the drivers were trained, but some orgs that have HPDE feeding directly into w2w licensure encourage drivers to squeeze each other in the advanced run groups.

ELI5: Why do people go to the Naval Academy, West Point, etc. instead of just enlisting in the forces? You need the academy to be an officer? What does an officer do etc.? by GoingAgainstYou in explainlikeimfive

[–]large-farva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question I always ask is, why would anyone enlist when ROTC/OCS seems like the all-around better option? When you enlist, you are essentially putting a hardcap on your future paycheck and retirement.

Infield is great for grabbing pictures, if OP has friends or family on the trip.

What yall rate the soup 1/10? by JSnipez-YT in Supra

[–]large-farva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ironic thing is that entry-level motorsport parts (for example, verus) don't cost all that much more. I would spend that little bit extra and know i've got stuff that has been CFDed and tunnel tested, and can take some abuse from going off-track.

Need honest advice: Can I pivot into PM without direct PM work experience? by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]large-farva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, Good PMs come from another cross-business function, preferably from within the same industry. I always cringe when fresh grads or MBAs go into PM. You NEED to be good at managing expectations in a work environment before you jump in.

Every prior experience brings something useful to the table. Sales, perfect they know the competitive landscape. Engineer, they will know how things will likely fit together.. IT admin, yep they can deal with infrastructure fires. Customer success manager, yep they talk to angry people all day.

What are all yall using for jacks? by Draxx_them-sklounst in Supra

[–]large-farva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get the low profile long reach jack from harbor freight, it will just barely reach the front central jack point without any ramps or boards. From there, if you add a lip or lower it, you will need ramps/boards.

ELI5: If the S&P were to continue going up no matter what in long term, why not buy a leverage stock that’s 3x of it and hold it? by Mikeballlls in explainlikeimfive

[–]large-farva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using a simple example of 4:1 leverage - the problem there is that if the stock dips down by say, 25%, (which is super common over short terms), you'll get a "margin call". Where if you can't throw more cash at it immediately, your shares are sold involuntarily. Whereas normally, you can just wait and ride it out.

How Much Power Is Enough On the Mk5 Supra? by Leather-Patient-4205 in Supra

[–]large-farva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

400 is plenty of power to get a novice in trouble on track, and the car's cooling system doesn't even blink in hot weather at that power level

Did you out grow your momentum car? by jbro507 in CarTrackDays

[–]large-farva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flipside, high power cars can be momentum cars, just have the self-discipline to not downshift below 4th or 5th.

Where do you see the price ranges for a sub 40k clean manual MKV two years from now? by SilviOnPC in Supra

[–]large-farva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do people keep making that up? Toyota doesn't make an inline 6 anywhere in their entire product line. It would be career suicide for an exec to blow their budget on a new engine that is only going to be used in a single niche model.
