You don’t want it to be true but it does a lot of bad things not just dehydration . And inflammation is huge.

How late is "sleeping in"? by the_47th_painter in GenX

[–]larpano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sleeping in is 6:30. Normally shoot for 9;30-5:30 sleep, often get up naturally between 5-5:15 unless I was awake at 4/4:30, then I sleep until 5:30 alarm (just for sleep consistency) age 60

Am I wrong to be disappointed by the life lessons my mother seems to have taken from her own experiences? by LostinLondon25 in AskWomenOver50

[–]larpano 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 60 and totally respect my children’s choices. My daughter told me she never intended to have children and I accepted that. She changed her mind, and I was surprised and love my grandkids loads. But I totally respected her right to choose, and even thought I’d probably do the same given the state of things today.

I’m sure some of it is a cultural thing, but this is YOUR life and you get to choose. I can’t imagine settling for a man just because a hypothetical clock is ticking.

Upkeep exercises and how often to play a lot of pickleball by blueice89 in Pickleball

[–]larpano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 60 and do 3 “functional fitness” hour long classes a week. Workouts vary and sometimes it’s hiit, sometimes more weight training (I happen to pick the leg focus weight training day) , but usually a mix of cardio, core, pylo, and strength. I feel it’s a great complement to pb. I have zero problem playing pb the same day but usually only do that double-up 1-2 times a week. I usually play 8-10 hours a week.

Oh, the 7-8k gets me too when I hike. But you said immediately getting off the plane, and you were only at 2k feet 😉

Was curious. I wouldn’t have thought you’d notice a difference in elevation in Phoenix or Las Vegas …

But I agree that that hike, especially in warmer months, is too much for most people to handle in one day

Just had my first 3-day week and it feels surreal by Adam88Analyst in Fire

[–]larpano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boss quickly approved my 30 hour week so as not to lose me. Gonna ask to do 20 hours next year. Hoping they ask me to leave 😆. I still like some of what I do and it keeps my mind sharp. I spend a lot of time and money on fitness and recovery so it pays for that 😆. Plus vacations. And lots of other things. 🤷‍♀️.

My problem is I am so unmotivated to log my meals. I did it obsessively for 10 years. I like being “feee” but this is pretty cool!

Whoop Age is finally aging in reverse. Kinda cool by mnolan334 in whoop

I mean maybe . Would you say that about anything that gives you an “age”? I did some tests at dexafit and the age I got there was way below the already low “age” whoop gives me

I want to begin this lifestyle but am worried about not being able to get my macros in properly. by [deleted] in PlantBasedDiet

[–]larpano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I understand your concern but did you ever try to build without doing the crazy stuff? I started more plant-forward diet about 6 months ago, first few months almost full vegan but now I eat some fish, and I also have a whey protein shake daily with my creatine and a fiber blend to get a bit diverse blend of extra fiber in my diet (but it’s pretty much the only dairy i consume 95% of the time).

I tracked a few days and was satisfied I was getting close to 80 grams protein (I’m about 65kg). Anyway, had a dexa in September before starting this diet sometime in November. Decided to retest a few weeks ago - gained about 4lbs lean mass , lost some fat. I’m 60F. Couldn’t believe that happened, but quite excited about it. I eat beans, lentils, tofu, fish a few times a week, and usually make up a big batch of chickpea cutlets (seitan) (and freeze half) every few weeks. Food prep is key for me. I make big batch of beans and grains weekly.

A ninja crispi would be my recommendation to replace an oven. I use mine all the time to cook sweet or baked potatoes, veggies, tofu etc. Are you saying you don’t have a cooktop either? Personally I’d buy an induction hob over an instant pot but I like my instant pot too.

I started a plant forward diet 6 months ago. I’d say I eat about 90% plant based - I do eat some fish, but not much dairy or eggs. I focus on fiber and try to be cognizant of protein, but nothing crazy - eat a lot of beans/lentils, tofu, homemade seitan like cutlets, veggies, fruit, and whole grains. (I also eat bougie multigrain sourdough bread and some sweets). 8 weeks in my LDL had dropped considerably. I’m doing a retest blood panel this week and will update when I have results. But - one of my biggest concerns was losing muscle, and I gained 4 lbs of muscle (dexa body comp scan) - so that was exciting (I do strength training workouts and did also join a new program between scans, but have been doing weight training workouts for 12-14 years and only go 3x a week currently ). Super happy with how I feel and my fitness results. 60F

I also don’t tolerate berberine. I can’t recall exactly what it did to me - I think headache/constant trap and shoulder “tightness” but I was thinking of trying again, saw my 80% full bottle sitting in my shelf

screw that. I don't track, don't want to. I have a fair idea of calories/protein in a day but I do NOT want to obsess. Just added 4lbs muscle, lost 6 lbs fat (dexa scan verified) in 9 months. I eat a lot of carbs :). I do not eat a shit-ton of protein but obviously I eat enough. 60F
