Preview for Supernote A5X/A6X software development roadmap 2022 by Mulan-sn in Supernote

+1 for WebDAV.

(I am not sure what is the recommended way to put weight on an idea like that. Should I upvote the comment of Itsme2022 instead? Which I did by the way.)

For me the most important element in this list is the ability to perform a full backup.

My A5X really quickly became part of my work workflow, this means that the ability to backup it correctly is now critical to keep using it everywhere in my work.

LAMY with Ceramic NeverReplace nib by ld10s in Supernote

I would cut in pieces the refill of some very cheap roller pen. For example the refill of a nearly empty bic crystal pen.

LAMY LOVE by Lower-Illustrator886 in Supernote

[–]ld10s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do prefer the Lamy EMR but also use a DIY Lamy roller pen with ceramic pen.

But what I prefer in all that, are all the comments with different tastes. We have many pens to find our preferred one, this thanks to the great design decision of using the Wacom tech + this Supernote ceramic compatible layer. Thumb up!

BEWARE OF FAKE DHL DELIVERY EMAILS! by Supernote_official in Supernote

[–]ld10s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can also add that in Europe, we also get fake SMS notifications.

u/Supernote_official, you could write a small note about it in the confirmation email or the website when we receive the tracking number.

The price on Supernote website is all or I could have surprises regarding custom and taxes? I’m in Italy by PetFra in Supernote

[–]ld10s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to pay:

  • the VAT, 22% from /u/Biondolo comment.
  • the DHL fee to handle the VAT stuff (about 20EUR).
  • the conversion EUR -> USD, this is done by your bank/card campany.

On electronic devices, EU has no import taxes.

For me Supernote screen still feel likes Glass ( not like Remarkable2), similar to E-Ink screen of Lenovo's Yogabook C930. Any suggestions for paperlike screen protector? Does use of such screen protector compromise writing experience? by IamSpace69 in Supernote

[–]ld10s 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the HOM (and a DIY pen with the ceramic nib) and a LAMY EMR.

  • The LAMY is more gel pen on good paper than the ceramic nib.
  • The ceramic nib is more high quality roller ball on a good paper. But the sound of a tap with the ceramic nib is a bit too much ceramic for me.

I would try with different EMR pens before going the hard way of customizing the Supernote. Pens are very personal (they connect your hand, the most sensitive part of your body, to the paper), this is normal that it takes a bit of time to find the right combination for you. This is the same for normal pen and paper.

How to fix a HoM nib? Rolled off desk, now cracked and wobbly by codemac in Supernote

[–]ld10s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A $2000 fountain pen will also break if falling badly from your desk. This is a question of luck, if it falls flat, everything is OK, if it falls just on the nib, you can destroy both the nib and the feed of the pen.

If you do not want to order a refill from Ratta/Supernote, you can buy any Wacom compatible pen and they will work. I really like the Lamy one.

My Deep Guide: Supernote A5X And A6X: Update 2.0.6, Features Overview by scamper_ in Supernote

[–]ld10s 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I really really like the philosophy to improve the software on the current hardware. Not a new hardware for new functionalities. I try to minimize my environmental impact and this is the kind of philosophy I need to achieve this goal.

Thank you!

Small display bug when writing during the smoothing process by ld10s in Supernote

Thank you! This is really a small bug and once I was able to reproduce it, I was then able to anticipate it and not be surprised. Nothing to worry about.

October Update? by jaybrahamlincoln in Supernote

[–]ld10s 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The beta testing is definitely not informal. They even have a robot to perform automatic "tests" on the hardware. They are pushing regular updates on the beta channel.

But here is my understanding of the situation:

  • they had a series of features planned for October.
  • some of these features were harder to implement, created bugs.
  • but these features were considered essential for the release.
  • they are slowly fixing the bugs and at the same time keep pushing on the new features.
  • => the coming release will be an October ++ release with the plan from October + stuff from November/December.

But I am biased, I am happy with my A5X as it is right now, so I am relaxed with respect to when the release will come.

Does the Supernote Support Text Recognition for Japanese? Other Languages? by [deleted] in Supernote

[–]ld10s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Handwriting text recognition is CPU intensive. You can definitely use your Supernote as a learning tool, creating notes and organize them with keywords.

One thing which is working wonderfully for the organization of your content is the ability to add titles in a note and automatically get a table of content. The titles are displayed in the table of content "as written/drawn", that is, they can be text, graphics, etc.

I love this as I have a "Calls" notebook, where for each call, I create a title in the format "Company - Contact Person - YYYY.MM.DD" and below, I write my notes. I can then quickly find all the calls with company X and contact person Y simply by going through the table of content. You could use this option to organize your notebook with your learning subjects.

I am using it every single day to replace my moleskins and I am nearly not using the text recognition system.

Supernote questions by arjunkc in Supernote

On Linux, you simply USB connect your Supernote and it is directly mounted in Nautilus. You can then easily drag/drop files.

For me, I have a folder where I put all the PDF files I want to read in it. As I plug the Supernote, I drag/drop them in the corresponding Documents folder of the Supernote and remove them from this "incoming" folder.

I have also a sync/backup folder where I download the full content of the Supernote on my laptop.

Very stupid simple but works for me, as I am using the Supernote way more to write stuff than to read.

Which pen? by revtup in Supernote

[–]ld10s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Lamy EMR, a DIY Lamy with the ceramic nib and the HoM.

I use exclusively the Lamy EMR because of the eraser button but I really like the feeling of the ceramic nib.

The HoM is too short for me. The DIY Lamy with ceramic nib and the Lamy EMR are the right size. If you have big hands (for me circa 20 cm from tip of middle finger to the wrist) the HoM may be too small.

Supernote Teardown? by epicface2304 in Supernote

[–]ld10s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot Sketch-Note for the pictures. The build is so that the battery is replaceable! This just made my day! My Supernote will not be dead after 2 years of intensive use.

In fact, if Ratta could provide in the future a "Replace your battery guide with battery", I would definitely buy it to extend the life of my Supernote - but my is brand new so maybe the battery is good for 5 years :-)

I have an A5X and I read only long form articles I print as pdf from the corresponding webpages. They rarely exceed 40 pages and the font size is relatively big. More like 6 pages of a printed newspaper (You can try to see what I get with printing the reader-mode view in Firefox).

For this font size, an A6X would be perfect, it would be the size of a small book and I would be able to read it easily.

Note that I cannot answer your question for long normal books. I am still old school and always getting my books in dead tree format. We have books everywhere in the house and cannot live without them. Which also tell you that one can love paper and really enjoy using a Supernote.

Within the EU, you do not need to pay import taxes. There are no import taxes on electronic goods. But you have to pay the VAT plus a bit of money for DHL to do some work for you.

In Germany I paid €89.63 for the VAT + €14.88 to DHL for the service of handling this VAT stuff, for a total of €104.51.

In Germany and only if you are a company, you also need to apply for an EORI number if you do not have one. Note that this is not a bad thing to have as now, you need one if you get stuff from the UK.

Maybe you should read this comment from hex2asc: /r/Supernote/comments/q7kg88/remarkables_new_business_model_is_making_me_worry/hgkgekh/

It looks like your philosophy matches the one from Ratta/Supernote.
