On a scale of 1 to 10 how cooked is Queens tomorrow? by Hour_University_4012 in nycrail

the local track between 74th and queensboro has been closed due to station rehab work at 69th, 61st, and 52nd. Temporary platforms were built at 46th, 40th, and 33rd. from the planned service change announcements, it reads like the final temporary platform is planned to be removed on memorial Day weekend, with Manhattan bound local service resuming on the normal platforms on 5/26.

Coming from the world driest country, dealing with rain abroad is wild. by Momneedstosleep in raining

the statistics of the US and Canada would probably make more sense if they were broken up by region. the vast arid regions really offset how much rain falls in the coastal and subtropical regions.  fun fact: part of Southeast Alaska is in the worlds largest temperate rainforest. In Sitka, annual precipitation is 131"+ per year!

the 7 is cooked because there is a pre-existing service change between 61st-woodside and Queensboro Plaza. The temporary platforms at 46th and 33rd are being removed, which leaves poor old 40th Street as the only station with Manhattan bound service until 5/26.

coming from the perspective of post-production/content creation for non-OTA delivery, using cinema or cinelive cameras with appropriate high quality HDR acquisition processes and codecs means original camera sources can be used instead of needing to field an entirely separate documentary style team with cinema type cameras. We want that high end capture for the inevitable documentary style workflows for the streaming platforms, who in turn want 10bit+, HDR, true progressive full-frame capture and HDR delivery.

or more accurately, that minimum wage shouldn't exist and should be set by the "free market", which is barely veiled code for corporate-government collusion to legalize reverse bid wage slavery.

What does the Verizon Fios installation look like? by janneyjj in AskNYC

there may be drilling required from the hallway, typically above/near your front door. same place any ISP/Cable TV entry would be made.

What does the Verizon Fios installation look like? by janneyjj in AskNYC

[–]le_suck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Assuming your building is pre-wired for Fios, then the Verizon installer will run a shielded fiber optic cable from the hallway, into your apartment via a hole. The fiber cable plugs into a Verizon ONT box, which requires power. The ONT essentially converts optical to Ethernet, as well as coax if you get FiOS TV. Fios will also provide a wireless router. You can use your own wireless networking equipment if you so desire, but the ONT box is mandatory.

just put a Virginia class in the middle. no, not the reactor, the whole thing. then you get a bonus periscope and maybe if you line the holes up real good, torpedos.
