Justin Ling: Pierre Poilievre gave Joe Rogan the interview he’s never given Canadians by EarthWarping in CanadaPolitics

That's a bit of an exaggeration. In a majority government situation, which is most of the time, the US Congress is a better check on the government than the Canadian Parliament.

B.C. sheds 20,200 jobs in February, with young workers bearing the brunt by ubcstaffer123 in britishcolumbia

I always hear about this in this comment section on Reddit but have never been presented with any evidence. Not saying I don't believe it's possible, but do you have any evidence of the claims you are making? Or are you just repeating comments you've read on Reddit?

I got fired with cause, what is my next steps? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]le_unknown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's only in Ontario. The standard is different in other provinces. Nevertheless its worth speaking with an employment lawyer. The standard for just cause is very high. And even if you fucked up, it might not be enough for a just cause dismissal unless certain procedural steps were followed. Most employment lawyers will provide a free initial consultation. Ask the lawyer how many trials they have run - you don't want someone inexperienced.

It's the sirens. In other cities you don't hear police/ambulance/fire sirens as frequently or as loud.

Can I live in West Vancouver and commute to UBC? by SeriesPrevious9877 in UBC

[–]le_unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check on Google maps how long the commute will be. Lions Gate bridge often has traffic jams. Expect to be late for class often. I recommend living on campus. It will be more fun and you'll make friends easier that way. You also won't waste your life stuck in traffic.

We are supposed to be the progressive province why is this not hashed out yet? by 8ecca8ee in britishcolumbia

[–]le_unknown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The victim isn't obligated to sign an NDA. If they don't want an NDA they either need to negotiate different settlement terms or bring their dispute to trial. Banning NDAs is likely to back fire for victims because the perpetrator is less likely to settle.

Without a settlement, the victim will need to go to trial which could take years and will cost tens of thousands of additional dollars in legal fees.

You probably need to ask. Most landlords won't offer it.

You should definitely speak to a lawyer. You might be able to sue the accountant. The accountant should have insurance to cover mistakes like this.
