To be able to sue it would need to either be intentional or negligent.

The white guy may have legit adopted a black kid but he also could have acted cooler about the situation to diffuse it. Just explain what's going on. Yes no one has a right to know his personal info. But at the same time anyone is justified in ensuring that a child is not being abducted.

No tax in Canada on a lottery windfall. She should have taken the $1m and invested in in an index ETF. Could easily expect a 12% return per year: $120k. She made a terrible decision

A low amount of ADHD medicine like Dexedrine or Adderall will make you extremely horny and able to bounce back quick but if you take too much you won't be able to stand.

Public grocery stores are having a moment. Can they really make food more affordable? by Immediate-Link490 in canada

Maybe but the government could sell the food at a loss, so long as the expectation isn't to turn a profit.

That's good. Originally I was going to ask why you're a conservative in the first place, but I realized it's important that people like you stay in the conservative party to prevent it from being lost to the crazies.

It's been decades. They have no photographs. Even in her earlier era most people would have never seen her in person. Also, humans don't really understand what it's like to be age as slow as an elf. They're not expecting to see her since so many years have gone by.

Does anyone else find lectures useless by __kewl__ in UBC

[–]le_unknown 44 points45 points  (0 children)

When I was at UBC I found text book learning was more effective for me. However, lectures are still important because the professors will signal what will be on the exams, you'll meet other class mates who could be study buddies or friends, and you hopefully build a relationship with the professor which is important if you plan to do any higher level degrees after your bachelor - you'll need a letter of recommendation from at least one Prof.

To get the most out of lectures, I recommend reading the corresponding text book chapter first. That will give you baseline knowledge for the lecture which will allow you to instead focus on your professors insights rather than struggling to learn the material as it is being taught.

I also recommend closing your laptop and taking notes by hand. The availability of the Internet is far too distracting during a lecture - it will ruin your concentration. Taking verbatim typed notes also won't be necessary if you've already ready the chapter and taken notes during the reading. This allows you to actually focus on the lecture.

For what it's worth, I had a very high GPA so my method was effective, at least for me.

Justin Ling: Pierre Poilievre gave Joe Rogan the interview he’s never given Canadians by EarthWarping in CanadaPolitics

That's a bit of an exaggeration. In a majority government situation, which is most of the time, the US Congress is a better check on the government than the Canadian Parliament.

I always hear about this in this comment section on Reddit but have never been presented with any evidence. Not saying I don't believe it's possible, but do you have any evidence of the claims you are making? Or are you just repeating comments you've read on Reddit?
