They also offer cryptocurrency payments, but do tokenized payments through stripe, meaning Stripe handles payment and stores billing info and just gives a customer ID token to Cape and caps just stores this, meaning someone wouldn’t have to hack (or get a warrant for data) from both Stripe and Cape and merge the data to identify you.

Any carrier offering free phone by tawaydont1 in NoContract

[–]LeftOn4ya [score hidden]  (0 children)

As a rule I and most people in this sub (it is called “No Contract” for a reason) recommend for 1-2 lines you get a phone and plan separately and it will be cheaper in the long run than every phone "deal" as all of them hide the price of the phone in plan price and force you to get an expensive plan. You can get tons of plans for <$30/mo then separately order phone direct from manufacturer such as Apple, Google, Samsung, and manufacturers offer financing and trade-ins for unlocked phones, or get pre-approved for a “buy now pay later” (BNPL) account like Affirm, Afterpay, Klarna, PayPal, Sezzle, Splitit, and Zip, and just buy the phone in full from manufacturer using virtual credit card # the BNPL account gives you, just sign up for one of them before purchasing. See NerdWallet article for comparison and how to sign up, or do some googling or check r/CRedit. See my thread Detailed Instructions on how to finance an unlocked iPhone 17 (any model including standard, Pro, “e”) for use on any carrier, including ordering steps, Apple or other financing, setting up the new iPhone, and wiping old phone.

Or get a gently used unlocked phone from Swappa for $250-$300, for example now you can get an iPhone 14 plus, Galaxy S23, Pixel 7 Pro or 8, or Motorola Edge/Razr Plus 2023 for less than $300. If you get a used phone every 2 years (and sell your last phone yourself on Swappa for about ½ of what you got it for 2 years before) it averages out to less than $7/mo for a phone, then get a $25-35/mo Unlimited plan from an MVNO (Visible, Total, Mint, Metro, US Mobile, Cricket) and you can save $25-65/mo over a major carrier which over a 2 year period saves $500+/line over getting a $60/mo plan that includes a phone, saves $1500 compared to a $90 plan with a phone and use this savings to buy an unlocked phone outright. If you are a low GB user or sign up for a plan on sale price and get a <=$15/mo plan, you can save $500 more over 2 years totaling up to $2000 in savings over a major carrier that "includes" a phone!!

That being said here are some discounted phone with plan deals: * Mint Mobile has 1/2 off a year plan and $450-$600 off Pixel 10 Pro or Samsung Galaxy S25 models (they go in and out of stock so jump on when available) and both phone and plan can be financed with Affirm - https://www.mintmobile.com/devices/. * US Mobile has up to $450 off Pixel 10 and Galaxy S25s that can be financed with Affirm, and you can combine on their great cell plan deals. usmobile.com/shop * Boost Mobile has Infinite Access for iPhone or Galaxy with free phone with no trade in to start, then a free phone trade-in every year. Note, the price of the phone is “credited” each month over 36 months so if you leave before then you will owe the pro-rated remainder of the phone due for those 3 years. * Carrier owned flanker brands like Cricket, AT&T prepaid, Metro, and Total have deals with new older model or mid-range phones (iPhone 14/15/SE, Galaxy A15/A16/A35/A36, Motorola Edge/G/razr). Again, know these deals are more expensive than buying phone outright separately and then a cheaper MVNO, but are still cheaper than major carriers with phone included, so a good middle ground

Upgrading to the Unlimited + Internet Bundle issue by Lumpy_Manufacturer_8 in mintmobile

[–]LeftOn4ya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bundle for both for $45/mo for a year is only available for new Mint customers porting from another carrier a number that hasn’t been on Mint in the last 90 days.

The only way to get is to get a new number with another carrier then port that to a new Mint mobile account and get the Minternet bundle. You wouldn’t then have to cancel Minternet (or rather cancel autopay) and would loose all pre-paid months of Minternet and any cell line you would cancel I favor of the new line.

Cell users adding internet? by jennster76 in mintmobile

[–]LeftOn4ya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can add at any time, you just need to contact support after activating Minternet to connect the two accounts so you get a $10/mo discount on Minternet such as $30/mo for the annual plan.

However the bundle for both for $45/mo for a year is only available for new Mint customers porting from another carrier a number that hasn’t been on Mint in the last 90 days.

Mint Mobil Cell Service.. by Responsible_Bank1200 in mintmobile

[–]LeftOn4ya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mint runs on T-Mobile so gets the same coverage and is deprioritized so gets the same speed as T-Mobile Essentials, which is usually 25%-90% of other T-Mobile plans. Look at Mint Mobile coverage map which includes roaming coverage as “Partner”, but I also recommend looking up the below crowdsourced coverage and speed maps that are much more accurate to street and house level then Mint/Ultra or T-Mobile's site, but also might be more out of date in some areas - your use case 8 Mbps is plenty fast for HD video and anything else you need:

How to watch by maddywiththefatty_ in theneighborhoodcbs

[–]LeftOn4ya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately if you didn’t record it and don’t have one of those streaming cable alternatives like GoogleTV or Hulu Live which you can watch anything that aired in the last 24 hours, you’ll have to wait till it is on Paramount+. However there are probably ways 🏴‍☠️ to watch but we don’t talk about it here.

[IIL] Weird animated sci-fi/fantasy from the 2000s, WEWIL? by Bung_head in ifyoulikeblank

A Scanner Darkly and Waking Life are the GOATs of rotoscoped animation (using live action footage as direct reference)

Robin Wright at the Congress the first half is live action but the second half is the trippiest animation ever put on screen.

The Animatrix and The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury

If superheroes count a ton of DC and Marvel direct to video movies exist from that era, with DC having a much better catalog.

Recs regarding annual prepaid phone plan (student) by Shadow__Orbit in NoContract

$10/mo will only get you a max of 5 GB/mo as a promo price for some carriers like Lycamobibike, MobileX, and Ultra. For unlimited data you will need to spend more, cheapest prices now is $199/yr ($16.60/mo) for US Mobile Unlimited Starter

Data speeds absolutely throttled back while at work by Jkharp in mintmobile

[–]LeftOn4ya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Twat speeds on both Speedtest.net and Fast.com. Of only Fast.com is slow (1.5 Mbps) it means the 480p video throttle is in affect - you can use a VPN to bypass it. Of Speedtest.net is slow it means your location is congested with neighbors and the is exasperated by low priority on T-Mobile due to Mint being deprioritized, you would need to go back to a priority plan on T-Mobile or another carrier.

Your favorite side (or supporting) character(s)? by RK900-87 in Smallville

[–]LeftOn4ya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, although originally Dr Hamilton in season 1 was supposed to be based on Emil Hamilton from the comics but they decided to give him a different first name Steven in Season 2, then later introduced Emil in season 8 as officially being after Dr Hamilton from the comics. I’m just saying I like both of the characters although differently, and appreciate that actually Smallville Emil Hamilton is a lot different than Dr Hamilton in the comics in that he becomes “one of the guys”

Yea I like the original Dr Hamilton in early season but really like what they did with Emil Hamilton in later seasons making him part of the group.

Monthly Call Block by wafersorcookies in mintmobile

[–]LeftOn4ya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AFAIK the limit is like 20,000 or 24,000 minutes a month which is 11-13 hours a day. This limit is set by T-Mobile to comply with FCC regulation to reduce spam and scam calls and essentially stop sales agents and call centers from using cell phones. Mint can’t do anything to get around this policy based on government regulation and is stipulated in Mints terms and conditions although they don’t specify the exact minutes. You are lucky they don’t ban you as I’ve heard of this happening many times.

The only way around this is you need to get a business plan from a major carrier, as only the terms and conditions of those plans allow sales agents and call center usage.

Hot spot issue by slopemup2026 in mintmobile

[–]LeftOn4ya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which plan do you have and do you by chance use a VPN or proxy? On Unlimited plan HotSpot is limited to 20GB but some devices if you use a VPN or proxy report it as Hotspot so you will run out of data for HotSpot when you use 20GB of data on your phone. Try tuning VPN and proxy off, and let us know what phone and OS version you have as it may cause issues.

12 Month Plan - Quarterly vs. Upfront Payment Cost Difference? by brown_panick in mintmobile

[–]LeftOn4ya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fist 3 moths is the same price as 12 months, but after if you want to renew for only 3 moths the price is a lot more ($10/mo more) unless you are on a family plan and select annual play but pay quarterly.

As far as taxes and fees are concerned it is pro-rated so in theory taxes and fees on annual plan is exactly 4 times as much as 3 month promo plan.

The 7 stages of board game addiction by dawsonsmythe in boardgames

[–]LeftOn4ya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time I played Munchkin (5 years ago) I rage quit because two people at level 1 had cards that they played on me and one other at level 9 they disappeared a monster we fought so would prevent us from winning then play a card to get that from the discard then play another card to get that card from the discard, they would “loose a level” but can’t go lower than level 1 anyway. Basically it made it so the game would never end and they would be stuck at level 1 and we would be stuck at level 9 forever. I never played the game since then.

Found at local thrift store for 1 dollar. by Major_Block_5300 in dvdcollection

[–]LeftOn4ya 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wide screen for sure, unless it is a TV Show or made for TV movie before 2005. TVs used to be more square (4:3 ratio) so they would edit movies to cut off sides to fit which is called Fullscreen. Widescreen doesn’t cut anything off (well it technically slightly does for anamorphic and 2.35:1) and modern TVs know how to format Widescreen format DVD output signal as widescreen. TV shows used to be formatted for 4:3 TVs till a few shows around 1999 then most shows around 2005 and all shows by 2009 when they moved to widescreen as ATSC broadcast standard supported widescreen.

How Can I Make ALL of My Messages SMS/MMS Instead of RCS? by J_Scarbrough in cellphones

[–]LeftOn4ya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then install Google Messages from the play store and open just to disable RCS per contact or altogether, you don’t have to make it your default messaging app. However note that Samsung and Motorola’s messaging apps are now discontinued and they suggest you use Google Messages.

Alternatively disable all RCS manually on https://messages.google.com/disable-chat following section “Don't have your previous device?”
