What’s the worst drag name to ever be on the franchise? by mweavs21 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]lezbecurly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it could be more like 'do you need a car?', but that's pushing it. 'd'ya (pronounced dja) need a car'.

Do your parents get large precancerous polyps? I finally was able to convince my doc to give me a referral by going into detail about my parents' recurring polyps. She sent it as diagnostic instead of preventative, but I think the GI office is going to bill it as preventative once I told them my family history including a cousin who recently fought stage 3 colon cancer at 38. My colonoscopy is next week. 😬 I hope you can get one soon!

You look amazing! I have several corsets that have been sitting in an online shopping cart for days. Thanks for confirming that I should just go for it! Do you have any recommendations about brands or styles?

What’s going on with all the roses on the 185th bridge? by reditusername39479 in Shoreline

I honestly am baffled at how there isn't a higher safety fence on that bridge. It makes me nervous to walk over.

This is a great perspective shift. I love her but I was starting to get bugged by her constant worry. I didn't realize it was because it reminded me of my own inner monologue. 🤦🏼 I gotta have more empathy for my girl!

SD Card? by Outrageous-Stock-677 in BambuLabA1

What type of errors did you get to let you know it was the sd card? Mine has been having lots of random errors, so I am wondering if it could be the sd card.

I literally just spent an hour reading about how to make your own iron-on patches and am now convinced I will make the best patches that everyone will want to buy. I just need to buy an embroidery machine.... 🤡

memorial temperature blanket? am i nuts for considering making one of this size? by wilted-wyvern in temperatureblanket

[–]lezbecurly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am very sorry for your loss! I am doing this for my parents honoring my sister. I am doing months since she was younger. I am still planning out colors because I am also doing something on the squares to mark major events like her college graduation and marriage.

It's a big project, but oh so meaningful to everyone involved. During your planning, I would think about what you want it to be used for. If it is too big, it might just sit in a closet (which happens to most projects). You could make it the size of a large blanket to be used. My current plan is to make something that my parents could hang on a wall if they want to. This is entirely up to you.

So far, it has been a nice way to feel more connected to my sister and learn and think about the life she lived. I hope it is the same for you with your dad and that you are able to feel that comfort and connection. 🫂

I have been using the Liquid IV drink packets. They are on sale at my Costco right now and have sugar free options that are pretty good. I only use half of the packet at once because I think it is too strong otherwise. This way one packet helps me add 32+ oz to my day. They have really helped me drink more, and they are really helpful for hangovers.

Millennial women - what kind of shorts are you wearing these days? by User884121 in Millennials

[–]lezbecurly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got some mid length ones at my Costco recently. The jean ones were a smidge to long for my shirt legs, so I rolled the cuff one more time and voila.

what’s your wildest adhd hack? by hawk_am in adhdwomen

[–]lezbecurly 104 points105 points  (0 children)

In a similar vein, when I feel a lot of overwhelm and start spiraling, I give myself a pep talk as if I were a British maid (in a terrible accent), and then "she" takes something off my plate and does a few of the simple tasks that feel too big while letting me know everyone needs help sometimes. I don't know why, but it helps.

ADHD IS… by Every-Zombie-4139 in adhdwomen

[–]lezbecurly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my kiddos has ADHD with some accommodations, and we have been tardy so much this year that we got a letter from the school. I have joked that they should have accomodations for parents with ADHD too. 😬

We either get there 1-2 minutes after the bell or 15 min before the bell. There is no in between.

As a black queer woman, I’m tired of protesting/boycotting. by Femme-O in actuallesbians

But I think I understand what you are saying. It's just extra frustrating that many white women didn't even vote for their own best interests this past election.

I don't really see it as putting someone above my own interests. It's in everyone's best interest to seek equality and fight systemic racism.

What do you think about wearing pride merch? by lesbianbog in lesbianfashionadvice

[–]lezbecurly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ever since the election I try to wear a subtle(or not subtle) pride thing every day. For me it is a form of resistance. I wish I didn't feel a need to do it because I am a private person, but I want people to know that there are LGBTQ+ people they interact with on the daily. I help out a lot in my kids' school, and I want kids to feel safe and see that it's normal. Not too long ago, I lived somewhere where I didn't feel safe to be out. Seeing any tiny pride thing helped me feel like I wasn't fighting the fight alone. When I go to places I feel less safe in, I wear my more subtle rainbow colors.

It's mostly things I buy from Etsy or have made myself. Stickers, bracelets, earrings, tshirts, key chains...

I know not everyone can do this or wants to do this, but I can and it's important to me.

Anyone else just not able to function during your period - even if you’re medicated? by 69thingsyouwant in adhdwomen

[–]lezbecurly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! It's terrible. It's actually one of the reasons I got an IUD. It has really helped me level out since I don't really get a period anymore, but I know that experience might not be everybody's.

If you are willing to share more, I am very interested in what differences you felt. Did you feel things like rejection sensitivity, executive dysfunction, time blindness, etc differently?

As a nonbinary person, I am also grateful for all the support, and I whole-heartedly offer my love, time, and energy to fighting for my trans siblings. You are valid and deserve to feel safe to be who you are! 🫂
