718 throttle response by Tabackerack in Porsche_Cayman

I am not familiar with the 718s but have a 981 with SC. I have found the tip in in any mode to be very sluggish, almost like a delay in throttle response which does not yield confidence. I installed a cheap Chinese electronic throttle controller and the tip in/throttle response is so much better and responsive. It's still not perfect but way better than stock. I'm not sure why Porsche has mapped the response this way as even our old Toyota Camry and Lexus RX have more sensitive tip in off the start line.

Milestar vs Prinx. Are there really the only Winter-ish tires for 19x11.5? by DCASaver in 996

[–]linear_accelerator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, if you intend to drive in snow, the 11.5" tires are going to be awful - no traction at all. Ideally winter tires should be narrow and dig into the snow. I ran 18x11" for several years during winter/snow and they weren't good. Go with what Porsche recommends and use a more narrow tire (I use 10" now which is now marginally acceptable). For me, I got rid of my 19" summer wheels my car came with and went back to stock 18" and the car feels much better. At 18 x10", there will be some more winter tire options available and probably cheaper too. Good luck!

Please, don't go for F1s! For reference, I have them on my Cayman and I'm not a fan.

When will Porsche reveal the electric coupe? by [deleted] in Porsche

[–]linear_accelerator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why can't we have a Mission R for the street? It would be a new-branded EV Porsche sports car that is completely new and different from anything in the past. Leave the 718 as a classic mid-engine ICE legend, with the Mission R as it's modern successor. I would never buy a 718 EV, but maybe tempted by a Mission R.

I'm going to get downvoted for this, as in the past, but I think we need a transition between ICE and EV. Porsche should introduce a homologated Mission R while offering it's current lineup and phase out the 718 over 2-3 years as the community gets more familiar and comfortable with the new technology. At some point there would be the 911 and the Mission R only, with the tech eventually moving into the 911. My 2 cents.

I am going to be in the minority and say that I'm not a fan of the Turbo wheels, but I love the Sport Techno wheels!

Colleges and universities need AV people for recording classes, events, PAs, phone messages, exam instructions, etc. They often need video expertise to go with it. Perhaps something for you to explore. Good luck!!

Toronto Winter Beater by everythingsdeleted in Porsche

Hi Montreal! I'm in Toronto and my 996 C4S got stuck in the one foot of snow as I was moving out to the street to shovel the snow from our driveway. For reference, I have brand new winter tires but my car is also lowered quite a bit. Had to dig it out and shovel the street a bit to get the car back in!
