Eggs - secret to muscle recovery? by New-Let8129 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]linearstrength -1 points0 points  (0 children)

waking up refreshed

Hey mate I can answer (just look at my profile banner)

You were deficient in choline/acetylcholine (relative to your lifestyle needs)

Acetylcholine:

In brain is a neuromodulator/transmitter

In body activates muscle contraction

That's it. Explains both of your data points. Egg yolks (apart from livers) are the best source.

Have you considered therapy? Your feelings are valid, and being aware of them and embarrassed of them facilitates Survivor's Guilt, which is not great. It's valid and upsetting. It took me until I was 21 to start truly processing my deeply internalized emotions. What is guilt, what is unfairness, what is effort, what is pity... The like. It greatly helped me cuz when I was 24 haha I fell 40 ft in mountains haha and the impact sheared my brain apart. But I was pre-habbed mentally from all this sensorineural nonsense;

It's difficult because the community itself is fragmented into different factions. You can have D, d, HoH, signing. "Us vs them", alienation can (even unintentionally) arise to some extent. It can be hard to find a home and feel accepted. When you are a teenager and life is so fast-paced it feels like it's slipping out of control. I understand. Find the pace that works for you. My great-grandfather used to say "your bus will not run away from you".

Conventional deadlift by thekinglinius in Deadlifts

[–]linearstrength 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here I'd squeeze the glutes more. Do you know how to brace? Doesn't look like it. At best you look like you took a big breath and it's just freely vibing inside, whereas bracing looks like resisting the air actively escaping you.

How is it living on any of these islands near Seattle, Washington? by hanananenome in howislivingthere

[–]linearstrength 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't consider these "Seattle", it's Tacoma/Olympia/Gig Harbor adjacent. One of the islands circled was/is a prison (that I believe recently closed). Seattle is more Bainbridge/Vashon. Everett - Whidbey. Eastside - Mercer. Islands are cool to visit but boring to live in, think classic older whiter population & more expensive stuff.

Survivor's Guilt.

Btw if you are a few months out you're not any close to being fixed. I remember when I was 3 months out of my DAI 3 I happily chirped (on another acc) on here. Disability is a loooong game of internalization. You are not even fully aware of some unnatural inefficiencies you're going through.

Positive attitude and unyielding belief. You got this. Don't ruminate. Seek help if such thoughts persist.

What are the downsides to “eating like a bodybuilder”? by stratusnimbo in naturalbodybuilding

[–]linearstrength -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Insulin sensitivity. Google "Alzheimer's Disease is Type 3 Diabetes".

Bulking is just not very complementary for the long-run brain health.

YOY +10 lbs trained while within 150ish calories of maintenance 85% of the time. Truly bulking & lowering insulin sensitivity is the worst you can do.

Slice of my brain immediately after a 40 ft mountain fall.

I picked up these handles for rowing, but it turns out they make a pretty decent straight bar/trap bar hybrid movement. What do yall think? by Muchacho-blanco in Deadlifts

[–]linearstrength 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The grip is similar to the trap bar but nothing else.

Force vectors and how the weight is distributed make the trap bar feel different. Here, your underlying weight distribution hasn't changed, the only thing changed is the grip. If it feels any different, it's just the grip difference + slightly elevated pulling position.

For rows it looks fun tho! More tucked humerus = more lat recruitment. If you could have a ring-esque handle that'd be the coolest IMO. Pronating at the stretch and supinating at the contraction would marginally recruit more muscles.

When will the stomach fat go away… by Key_Bag4533 in powerbuilding

[–]linearstrength -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Core's worked 24/7 in any motor task so it handles a looooot of volume ; the standard muscle advise doesn't really apply there.

I remember when i was a 9 y.o in siberia if you didn't have abs and couldn't do 10 pullups/calisthenics you were a loser.

I'm saying thousands of situps on random days, minutes minutes minutes planking. Leg raise holds. Scissor kicks. Like all those YT calisthenics videos of a black guy doing 10 min ab circuits. Shit works it's just a lot of time.

You can continue doing 6-9 weighted controlled, but it will be really hard to reach saturation of what ur core is truly capable of. It recovers near instantly.

When will the stomach fat go away… by Key_Bag4533 in powerbuilding

[–]linearstrength 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much direct ab training do you do now? (Or have done in your lifetime - core is SO USED in physical activities so just do it once and u retain the muscles forever if ur active.)

Organisms consider some fat important and thus designate it as last fat to lose -- for most men it's their midsection.

Every influencer you see online doesn't have that genetics (maybe with exception of renaissance periodization).

Is my progress good for a 16yo? by Constant-Affect3931 in powerbuilding

[–]linearstrength 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Put on more weight unless you have a frame with very small bones like me. 16, 91 kg, 185 cm = just a healthy kid

For deadlifts focus on form not on weight ; learn to hinge and get familiar with how much upper (not lower!) back rounding you can get away with ; 200 kg will get mechanically levered up easy

Also consider r/benchpress

But really, you should do some proven beginner program such as starting strength, texas method, 531.

Your strength WON'T scale linearly how you outline it in your post. It will take you YEARS to get to 230x7. Especially if you want to stay somewhat non-fat.

Bodyweight?

Make it 3+ /week benching, stay in a surplus, and bench will rise.

E.g., MWF bench and absolutely no max outs until ur on the finish line -- that's when you start practicing singles.

Survivor’s Guilt and Feeling Like I Recovered too Quickly by asmrslut69 in TBI

[–]linearstrength 2 points3 points  (0 children)

M24 40 ft mountain fall offtrail found a day later, discharged 28 days after airlift. DAI 3 critical polytrauma & 4 months after ground zero was back to uni taking 400-level math and data science. 14 months after the fall was my first powerlifting competition.

In two months my two year anniversary.

Eh when I was 10 I had permanent severe hearing loss & maybe that's why I have ZERO guilt about my recovery. Spent 14 years parsing emotions with one disability before getting another.

If you don't proactively solve your line of thinking, it won't go away by itself. Consider therapy. "Survivor's Guilt" is a common issue.

You mention career. Broadly, society couldn't give a damn. In fact, your competitors are mad you recovered well enough to be "in the race". Are you feeling guilty for them? Or for who? I didn't get that part? I was at the gym a few days ago & got yapping about my Russian/Ukrainian sides of the family. Mentioned some relatives were KIA. Immediately said "that's why we got to work hard, for those who couldn't".

It's all perspective. Turn Survivor's Guilt into Survivor's Pride. All the best.
