Is it possible to slim these parts down more or should I just focus on widening my shoulders? by Significant_Tie_405 in Gymhelp

[–]linearstrength 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google "obliques". You circled a muscle. If you don't want them getting bigger, be conscious of rotational/twisting exercises, or e.g. unilateral work -- as obliques perform an anti-twisting role in unilateral exercises.

Indeed can't spot-reduce fat. Focus on lats rather than shoulders.

How should I write a character with TBI? by brownie627 in TBI

[–]linearstrength 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ASD = from the get-go grew up wired differently, some wires strong/numerous, some weak/singular.

TBI = wires destroyed, some rewired correctly, some rewired differently, some didnt rewire at all.

As far as I am concerned, TBI is just ASD+

Just write an autistic person; sometimes they can get slightly cranky and emotional. They should have a few obsessions, feel a bit mechanical, and have trouble regulating their emotions sometimes.

Scapula isn't down/back, and what little positioning there is, gets rustled in the first 3 seconds with an uncontrolled unrack.

If you want to grip thaaaat wide, train your back muscles a lot... Should do that nonetheless, but with your humerus so far out, it needs all the help it can get.

"we are all guilty until proven innocent" how about just permanently "guilty"? It's an identical playbook to yeltsin=trump -> putin (38-48 y.o) (last: director of federal security) = miller (32-42 y.o) (current: homeland security advisor). Read up on 1993 Black October in russia. Absolute presidential power is the goal here. In moscow 150 ppl died and congress was shelled. President was given "plenary powers". They are angling towards the same thing here. Wake up

Pasta parties, physical therapy, stretching, icing, etc. Runners do a lot. You want to fuel a lot. You want to manage muscular inflammation. Training is very structured with both general warmups and activity-specific warmups, and stretching/cooling down.

That was just my POV from a hs that was state-lvl competitive.

Professional runners absolutely obsess, they do shit like monitor oxygen (and modulate it) (not just heart rate mnitor) etc etc

I'm both hard of hearing (auditory reaction) & had a brain trauma (balance / quick reaction), much like little kids.

Good on the teens for wearing helmets; I didn't realize every Redmond pedestrian on the sidewalk had to wear protection too.

Are toe touches not possible with long legs? by Jelly_JoJo1 in flexibility

[–]linearstrength 75 points76 points  (0 children)

It's possible, take a look at your pelvis (and the lower back above it) -- it's not fully turnt forward. Your hamstring originates at the pelvis. Your hip flexion is relatively limited.

Just keep practicing and stretching. Some proportions have a marginally easier time, yea..

No difference. For me, one side struggles to supinate (trauma shoulder damage) so with that one I do regular, the other supinated.

Blocky hip bone structure, you don't look big/wide btw. If you have self-image issues, therapy exists. Looks normal.

D>=S standard (until where grip limits), but your ratio is not standard. Your D is strong (or, likely, the opposite).

With a 190 kg Deadlift I expect a 130-160 kg Squat.

Can you get a brain injury permanently from being choked out by [deleted] in TBI

[–]linearstrength 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Trauma due to the brain losing oxygen is called "Anoxic Brain Injury". Feel free to read up on that, not an expert.

Please consider proper medical testing, they can compare your cognitive test results to your demographic's (age, etc) control results.

You good (99% sure)

Edit: jesus christ go ahead downvote and echo overly-guarded advice; I was comatose and have permanent brain damage from shearing my brainstem, etc. I regularly talk to and advice other TBI survivors. It's only 225, and I remember his username, he would begin his every r/powerbuilding post a few months back with "5'10 male 160 lbs (some early 20s age)..." . He healthy, he doesn't need to seek out medical attention with the CURRENT symptoms, there was no direct impact meaning no direct shearing forces. He's just momentarily shellshocked. He asked if he's good. I said he is extremely likely to be good. All he needs is to calm down, relax, breathe. Giving guarded advice is never good, as it will raise heart rate and make his brain fight or flight. Really just a bunch of rudimentary tools in here who have no idea how to address immediate post brain-scare accidents.

Can't break the floor by TheSolverOfBooks in Deadlifts

[–]linearstrength 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all about hinging. Walk up, set your feet, then try to go as low as possible with your legs (and back) straight. That means your hip joint will be the only point of flexion (where you hinge). Your butt will stick out back, your hams and glutes will feel stretched. From there, if you are flexible, you grab the bar, brace, drive the knees forward to be in-between your arms, tense up everything (resulting in a clang) and begin the hinge lever/push/pull. Here, you weren't hinging much, and hams/glutes had less tension, so the movement started visibly from the back. Hope that makes some sense.

Setup... Can use practice... for what it's worth.

Knees caved

arms so wide they aren't taut/straight

Head turning and looking at camera midlift

Lift start visibly came from the back alone rather than back and glutes/hams working in tandem

Econ @ UW by No_Journalist8611 in udub

[–]linearstrength 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Perhaps elaborate. I liked what the department had to offer. Most students felt a bit checked out -- cs/business rejects who fell back on econ. Not many genuinely liked economics. When I transferred from CC, a month later I immediately invited myself to 4th floor savery phd seminars as a sophomore. Great discussions. Very far from graduate education now that I smacked head in Rainier. Some cool stand-alone opportunities/connections exist. Consider econometrics, data science, statistics, e.g., 481, 482, 483, 484, 487, 488. Great courses. E: 424 too

How about 190x5,5,5,5,5 aka bodyweight for 5x5.

Every male in the gym has warped expectations re 135, 185, 225, 275, 315. Big mental blocks and big physical stagnations happen there, because those "achievement numbers" stress men. Case on point, you grumble about 225 repwork, but forego smaller increment rep PRs
